Just a thought but...why not make the Help section available only to Sponsors. :dunno:

Those that don't sponsor still get access to the bulk of the forum, those that do sponsor get the benefit of the vast amount of experience available.

If you look at the hourly rate of most mechanics/garages and then consider the £15 sponsorship then I defy anyone to say that it's not worth the money.
How many people on this forum have saved themselves an expensive trip to their local bike shop by getting help from longstanding, experienced Bird owners...? Other people have found out the hard way what works and what doesn't and they're prepared to share that knowledge for free. If you've had help here then the least you can do is fork out a measly £15 to show your appreciation.

I definitely owe the collective knowledge here a few beers for the dosh that I've saved.

If this forum folds because it can't afford to keep going, where will we find the help, advice and assistance then...? :dunno:

I'm f*cked if I'm going to be going to my local Honda dealer for that...:wank:

My view.

I believe there are a few members on here genuinely counting their pennies and to them I say welcome to free membership. Similarly, to the occasional visitor. In my opinion though the majority of the regular contributors who do not pay sponsorship ARE leeches and freeloaders who should examine their consciences. I am a non-bike owning pensioner who will continue to remain a sponsor in gratitude for the help and advice I have received in the past and to enjoy the advert free pleasure of the banter on this jewel of a site.

andybird .........with no response to my question I must assume that in your opinion anyone who does not pay for the privilege of using this site is a parasite or now a leech ...correct?

Is this despite it being an open site that can be viewed without being signed in or even being a member ?

Kind of puts a spoke in the wheel regarding information gained from here I think :-0)

At least some of us parasites contribute by telling you when you are being a bit of a pratt 8rfl@

I see no question. Questions are followed with a '?''

So by playing by the rules, those of us who chose to not to have the additional bells and whistles of sponsorship are:

Parasites, leeches and freeloaders.

I actually find that quite objectionable, but then again double standards aren't unusual here at times....

Maybe some of those posting suggesting that I and the others that chose not to pay the subscription fee should put their efforts in to lobbying Keith to make the subscription compulsory.

Do something positive for a change.

I am one of those freeloaders parasites and leeches and I don't find it objectionable at all

no reason too..if I genuinely thought andy and some who have made those comments meant it...I would still ignore them silly billies:-0)

There are things to be annoyed about in any forum..for me if you input enough you get to know the personalities...this honestly isn't a big bean bannana :dunno:

good looking AND modest
Although I am a sponsor, I wouldn't dream of calling people names such as those above, I do however think that the cash saved by being on this site, more than makes up for the ?15 or so quid it costs me per year, like the rest of you, I'm not forced to pay any money, but feel it's just "the right thing to do" :dunno: recently and in the past, some fantastic people have helped me out by giving me parts and advice, and although I infest "other" sites, free and otherwise, this site has always come up trumps for me and many others, to the tune of many of the "other" sites have direct links to posts on this site, now I know it's all down to personal choice, I choose to pay because for me it says "thanks and I want to be a contributing member and pay my corner" without sponsors I'm sure that this site would finally end, something all of us as bird owners, would find it a very real loss!! :dunno:

BTW those that have met me, man8um :-0)

Like appealing to the conscience of the leeches and freeloaders? 8rfl@

Leeches and freeloaders.

I believe the description is accurate and therefore cannot be objectionable.

Methinks thou dost protest too much, Mr Bean. That little inner voice niggling you, mayhap?

Lies are objectionable whilst truth may be uncomfortable. :-0)

The reference books describe leeches and parasites in a way I don't recognise of myself. If it helps you understand I'm happy to send you a link to the Oxford English Dictionary?

To be honest I really don't care what you think. You, like Andy are nothing to me.

However, I do dislike self-righteous hypocrites.

Oh, and the idiots who do not understand business and how the business comes to it's decisions.

Can I ask why Centaur is a hypocrite?

And, how does the business of BO make it's decisions? You obviously attends the meetings where such things happen, so please enlighten the rest of us.

Parasites and leeches......?

OK, for the sake of brevity, how about.....

FREELOADERS.

Did I accuse Centaur of being a hypocrite - nope.

I did re-read the comment about business decisions and decide it was an inaccurate comment - my error. However as very few on here seem to understand that the current business model is Keith's, rather than a charity, I didn't think it warranted correction.

Clearly I was wrong.

I'm no longer sure how much of this is said in fun so a simple question....

Would you like us to go & be parasites, leeches & freeloaders somewhere else ?
Not a problem from my perspective! brok3

To paraphrase Rabbie Burns. Oh, to see ourselves as others see us.

As a pedant I probably use a dictionary more than most. I have three on the shelf above my monitor.

That at least is true.

However, I do dislike self-righteous hypocrites.

Bwahahaha.

[Oh, and the idiots who do not understand business and how the business comes to it's decisions.

I have been in business myself for many years and have regularly advised business clients on their finances. Bikers Oracle is operating more like a charity than a business. They are obviously aware of this and are obviously willing to carry freeloaders; for now.
