Family tree

RHINO

Answering to nobody
I have recently been looking into my late grandfathers background and founds some interesting facts.

I remember as a kid going to visit him at a Bothey in the grounds of a large home in 'Bontnewydd' , Wales.
I remember the house had a HUGE garden and a HUGE house at the top of the garden, i was told i couldn't go to the big house unless i was asked.

My brothers used to play with the kids from the big house, they were called 'Peregrine & Sarah'. I knew the family were rich as there was sometimes a red helicopter parked on the lawn yet at 5yrs old i wasn't to concerned nor interested in these folk.
After asking loads of questions recently and looking on the net it turns out that the home was 'PLAS DINAS', the home of Lord Snowdon & Princess Margaret, the kids are Pregrine & Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones

My grandfather was a plumbing and heating engineer, he was living in the grounds of PLAS DINAS for many years whilst working in the area and carrying out maintainance on the Armstrong-Jones family home.

Family legend has it that my Great Great Grandfather was a lifesaver in Whitby before everybody upped sticks and moved to Harrogate.
Apparently he swam out and rescued a few people when this ship went down, although I can never find mention of him!!

I have a normal Cornish 6-lettered surname that anyone outside of Cornwall insists on spelling incorrectly. My surname has been traced back to the 1700's by a family name researcher.

Someone on eBay posted me a parcel with it spelt wrong, even though it was on my eBay delivery details, my email and cheque I sent them.

People I meet insist on using the wrong first letter, even though it's a "P" and pronounced as a "P".

Just call me Mr Pencil or something. At least the 'kers can spell that. c7u8

Oh, incidently, I've been on holiday to Cornwall many times and have no problems there. There's even a guesthouse, a shop, and several gravestones (not mine) bearing the name.

Welllll, I am proly going to regret this, but some time ago my old dad paid for some lineage work to be done..
I have NO idea what he expected, but what turned up came as a bi of a shock to his rather pretentious and unwarranted claims of middle class sensibilities

Turned out he ( and therefore I ) was directly related by bloodline to one Gypsy Rose Lee !

I just started doing mine this evening, been interested in it for a while and just never got round to doing anything about it. Nothing really interesting to report so far, just got back to my grandfather's grandfather who was called Israel Brakewell. I have a feeling that on my fathers side there are Lords of Ely (Irish - hence the O'Carroll connection!)

Wish I'd done it before my grandparents all died though, would have made it a bit easier eh c7u8
