It raises the question... If you buy a car that is being massively misrepresented can you get your money back, and if not, why not ?

I knew a woman who bought a VW Vento.
I leaked into footwell from first day.
VW fought her all the way through court.

Just like MPG figures. Probably great and mostly accurate when driven under a specific set of conditions in a lab, absolutely no relevance in the real world.

I believe that changed a while ago albeit participation by the manufacturers was on a voluntary basis. In ye olde days the measurement was taken at a permanent 56mph on a rolling road and, surprise surprise, vehicles were tuned to be very fuel efficient at, you guessed it…56mph.

The current standard is real world, fixed route driving, although I’m not sure if it is undertaken independently.

Amazing what a difference a heavy right foot can make…I had a Civic Type R for a while when they first came out…..lucky to get 20mpg if pushed hard, could get over 50mpg with care. It was a company car……

Integra R was the same. I have an Impretsa Turbo and was only getting about 16mpg and was doing 1000 miles a week around Wales. I swopped it for an Integra R and expected that to be a lot better!
