I'm off to Dublin tomorrow for the week-end with the missus - anybody got any recomendations - places to see, pubs to drink in?

Myself and the Mrs went a couple of weeks ago, if you've never been, get the tour bus for about 14 euros, it goes all round the city and you can hop on and off anywhere you like, the ticket is valid for 24 hours.

Obviously go to the Guinness and Jameson brewery/distillery, Kilmainham Gaol is very interesting, and any of the pubs in the Temple Bar area really should float your boat. At the Guinness Brewery, go right to the very top floor for your free pint (entry is 12 euros) and admire the view, simply stunning and makes your jaw drop as soon as you step out of the elevator. Try and go Friday or Monday if you are there to avoid the massive queues.

Where abouts are you staying? We stayed in the Jury's on Parnell St which was quite nice, only built last year.

Oh, there is a bus from O'Connell St to the airport that costs 5 euros each, runs every 20 or 30 mins or so, cheaper than the 27 euro taxi.

Other than that, its just a big ole city really, Grafton St is the main shopping street and gets really busy at the weekend too.

Have fun anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Cheers mate - we are in a Hotel on Upper O'Connell st - not too far from temple bar I believe - as long as it is in staggering distance!

Never been but heard it is quite expensive? :dunno:

No more so than any other city really, expect ?3 to ?3.50 a pint or so. Just becareful if you order a vodka and coke for example, usually here a double is just about the same price as a single, but over there it IS double, and then you have to buy a glass bottle of coke.

Stick to the Guinness i say!
