A cop I know was driving, as it happens a UK reg car he had just imported, when he noticed the car behind with blue lights.
He thought it was a mate who had spotted him and was messing.
Long story short it was two lads in the car. Might be construction and had lights for moving equipment.
Anyway when he pulled up beside them he asked them what they were up to and they denied all. He then showed them the badge and pulled them over.
He took out the job phone to do a check on reg. Lads got very uncomfortable.
I don't think there was any history.
There is now.
Of all the cars in Dublin...........

Also he had a story of a guy importing a Ferrari.
He sent the son to pay import duty.
When official keys in data he discovered there was a charge of €27 for previous event. He had draft for €100,000 but didn't have the €27 so he had to abandon it.
He came back with new draft.
Official keyed in data and discovered they had now incurred a late penalty of €10,000.
The son rang the father and handed the phone to the official........
He sent the son to pay import duty.
