Those little globe shaped compasses that you stuck on your
dash would be a fine replacement for sat nav

I remember "customising" an Austin Allegro with
Paddy Hopkirk coach lines

Those tubes you shoved on your exhaust tail pipe to make it look sporty.

I had one of those in my 1976 imperial red (& black vinyl roof) Hillman Avenger 1600GLX, loved that car it went like shit off a stick

It was more of a maroon colour but they called it red to slow it down.

dixie air horns were all the rage

I had La Cucuracha ! Got on your nerves after a while !

Also......... the tyres with manufacturers names in white lettering (General Grabber on mine until I got proper Bridgestones Desert Duellers @tu*)

The air freshener which looks like a traffic light with the orange bit filled with a obnoxious liquid

Go fast stripes

graphic equalisers which made your Argos bought speakers sound even worse !

HUGE spotlights made by Cibie mounted on 'rally' light brackets on the front of your car

Wheel spacers ... give you that 'wide wheel' look

'Reverse' rims (similar to deep dish alloys)... similar to above

6"-12" Jack up kits .... Which made the car totally unstable

Mirror tinted windows or Limo black tint ... you could see bugger all through these in the dark

Metalflake paint jobs

Flame paint jobs and murals

Those where the days ........................... :-0)

Had a 1957 morris minor. Ashamed to say had it covered in blue fur over dash and inside of doors, a blue stick on sun visor with moggie written across top of windscreen, jacked it up, wide wheels that squealed when cornering because they rubbed on wheel arches. Used to go through half shafts regularly when wheel spinning. Had to make sure the radio cassette (wired straight to battery) did not touch any metal bodywork as car was positive earth.
A weekly stop by the police made me sell it and invest in a ford cortina 1600e, thats another story....
Did have wolfrace wheels on it, but never got round to a sidewinder exhaust.

I have a pair of super oscars (pencil beam and fog) which I found in a garage tidy !!!!

1600e .... Fantastic !!
The 4 dials in the dash (either central or slightly raised depending what year)
Should have had rostyles on it !!

The savage version of the cortina was quite eye catching for its day !

I owned a red one with a full length Webasto sliding roof. The day I bought it it had been raining hard and the guy forgot to mention that it leaked badly. At the first junction when I braked all the freezing cold water stored in the soggy roof got dumped in my lap....needless to say I wasn't best pleased...I think I ended up reshelling that to get rid of the dodgy roof....crap idea they were!

Come on you Hatters
My HA Viva van had a high level brake light, basically a rear fog light mounted on the roof in the middle over the doors wired into the brakes :yo:

Letch
Centurion helmets with press studs to keep your visor closed (sometimes).

Were the same weight as a paving slab, and cracked if you dropped them from anything higher than knee height.

My car of that era was a Morris 1300 'sport'.

Well, when I say sport, it had a sticker on the back saying that!

The air suspension made it like a bouncy castle all the time, great on bends
