There'll definitely be a shortage now as people go and panic-buy and then throw it away when it doesn't get eaten and goes off. This type of publicity just makes matters worse.
That's not going to go down well with the wife's tortoise.
If there's no lettuce it usually makes a bee line for the first set of bare toes....and there's plenty of choice at the moment with this heat.
The problem is farmers are refusing to use hoses on their lettuce, what it needs for everyone to attend their local Church & wait for the vicar to say "Lettuce spray"
