I thought the film froze! Amazing how quick that happened and how much steam!
And then the chap gets up and fails to duck far enough and gets walloped again!
It will be steam/ vapour to start with as the fluid content is boiled and evaporates and then the fats ignite uke:
Ok...
Holy fuck! Who's frying tonight?
AC or DC, it will get you. DC will set you on fire and AC will grab you and not let go, making your muscles contract at 50Hz. (50 cycles per second.)
He survived the training but I'm sure he must eventually have met a hair-raising end.
He didn't move to South Africa by any chance:-0)
One of the more sereous (on surface) accidents they had on the mine I used to work at involved 2 electricians. Due to civil works they needed a concrete pump in the area where the main transformers where, so needed the power off in that area
On the day of the job they went into the main building where the elecktrickery came in, to 'pull the links' for that secton (I'm not an electrical guru, thats the term used by the electrical supervisor who told me the deteails)'
In the PPE store there was only one silver thermo suit which he told me they had to wear when doing that job. So being good work mates the sparkies decided that one would wear the top half of the suit and the other would wear the bottom .
When the links were pulled they both got trapped in a massive arc and were very sereously burned... at least they both lived tho (sadly no vid)
We were taught that DC contracted the muscles so you couldn't let go and I will always remember one nutter who would tap a contact with the back of his hand to see if it was live. He survived the training but I'm sure he must eventually have met a hair-raising end.
Well, you were misinformed Bill. It's the on/off action of AC current that causes the muscle spasm. Try it if you don't believe me.
I'll take your word for it, for now, Barrie. :-0)
Don't take my word for it Bill, take the test. When you grab a handful of AC, make sure there is a defibrillator handy. If you survive that, grab a handful of DC and set your SAT-NAV for the burns unit.
