My biggest regret as a Leeds fan is that he was only given 44 days at Elland road, before player power ousted him, the directors chose to listen to a group of ageing footballers before a proven Leader. RIP Brian, the best manager England never had.

A man who spoke straight.....

No "banter"... Just call a spade a spade...

Could have been a good England manager given a chance..

So eat your heart out Bill Nicholson, Don Revie, Bill Shankly and Alf Ramsey to name but a few poorer managers. :m

RIP Brian.....have a few on me tonight !!!!!

Mac...you forgot one.
The only England manager, apart from Alf Ramsey, whose team finished a World Cup final tournament unbeaten (although the team did not even advance to the semifinals).

Ron Greenwood

Used to think I supported County when he was there, then realised I supported Cloughie and followed him to Forest. Not actually that keen on football but he made it MUCH more interesting.

RIP big 'ead

Big Head

It is interesting to note that in the days of Cloughie's comments, he was regarded as a Big Head.

Today with sports mind coaches, we want the biggest head possible.

It is the difference between the winners and the runner's up.

It is called belief in oneself, the essential ingredient of a winner.

His track record speaks for itself period. :yo:

The comment was "the best manager England never had" it is not just my opinion, the comment was also made by a number of ex footballers, speaking in praise of cloughie, I am not denegrating any other manager who was about at the time indeed their own achievements stand before them, At the time it was a wide held belief that cloughie was the right man to take over the England manager's position, maybe we would have won the world cup maybe we wouldn't, but the only certain thing now is we will never know.

Maybe if we had some, or rather 11, world class players we could compete?

Quite true, it appears that some of the current England squad think that they have a god given right to play for England, also I don't like the politics involved, Alan smith gave his heart and soul for Leeds last season without even a sniff of an England place, yet he Plays one game for Man utd and straight away he is a first teamer in the England squad.

Every one is an expert, especially those that know fook all. I listen to it every week (Not a dig at you Derek)

I agree, although I don't profess to know everything about football I have followed the game for as long as I can remember, and I do have my own opinions (as we all do) but I do realise that we have to put our faith in the people responsible for running the game and that like us they are only human and do sometimes get things wrong, so just how expert are the experts?
