Brake Discs

Is there any advantage in fitting wavy discs? I know they disapate heat quicker, but are they really neccessary on a road bike that does not do track days?:dunno:

Someone will be along shortly to correct me.....But when they are new "Wavy" discs appear to have more meat on them than standard? :dunno:

I have a set of 'gay' Stealth wavey disks on mine.

TBH there is not much difference in performance between them and std ones under normal conditions but they do work better under more extreme circumstances, I've never had any problems with brake fade with them when playing on the track (though that'll be more likely down to the material than the wavey bits).

I had a problem with them warping but they've been fine since I got them re-ground

they weigh over 2 kgs less they the oem, they "wipe" clean quicker as well.

Standard ones are OK for normal riding..

The original concept and the reason they are used on track bikes is they do ( or at least are supposed to ) dissipate both water and heat quicker

In every day use on the road I doubt there is any real world advantage over the standard ones as so few of us ride quick enough to warrant them.. however, they do look rather neat in my opinion
