The claims from BRAKE have been met with derision from the BMF
BRAKE opened Road Safety Week by declaring in a statement to the press
"motorbikers kill kids as well as themselves"
Andrew Hill spokesman for the charity went on to say
If you ride a motorbike the chances are you are going to end up dead on one
one in 20 motorcyclists will die in a crash
its the most dangerous thing you can do
a child hit by a motorcyclist will always come of worst
A kid is a vulnerable road user a motorcyclist is a heap of metal going down the road
a lot of the time motorcyclists dont leave behind proper facilities-eg life insurance-for their spouses

Anyway, it seems the scooter boys are on the up in my area and they ride like morons...........

.....if you can call it riding - but not wishing to thread drift too much, the speed they ride through my road is well above 30!

I know the father of one lad and popped round the other night to show him my leather jacket & helmet I have following my crash at 25mph and the damage inflicted.......and his lad rides around in shell suit, no gloves etc.

I know these boys aren't the ones targetted at the article, but get em early is my motto......

....anyway, sorry again, but back to the original post Gyp, it is just another case of bash the biker becuase we are so slightly different etc.....

I am afraid people like this, the taliban of safety, need to be reminded who they serve...


Can you please give me the name of your solicitors or to whom legal documents should be served on.

We intend bringing a legal action against BRAKE and or its officers.

The action will be sighting your published words concerning motorcycle users.

It is our considered opinion the statement is defamatory and liable to incite action against motorcycle riders.

Be aware that this action is being financially backed by various motorcycling organisation in the UK.

We really do not expect to win this action, merely to bring your organisation into the disrepute it has earned by issueing such outrageous statements.

If you wish to avoid this action please remove the article from any and all publications and print retractions and formal apologies both from BRAKE and the person who penned the words.

Nothing less will appease the several thousand bikers who are aware of your statement and have already pledged moneys towards a legal fighting fund.

I was just interested as a motorcyclist just where you managed to find these bias and defamatory remarks.
Why not just put a picture of motorcyclists eating small children in the next safety campaign just to warn everyone that all motorcyclists must be psychopaths who actually want to kill children.
With this type of messages being sent out from organizations such as yourselves, i am sure it will be liable to incite action against motorcycle riders, which will help you prove just how much we enjoy putting yourself at risk i mean we just don't care enough to ensure that we leave behind proper facilities.
I know that excellent open minded positive, constructive and most importantly very fair points are all points that, i feel were completely missed out of your statement and would suggest that before making this type of campaign you actually research the points your trying to make before running with a statement which could and most likely will lead to at least one motorcycling organization bringing legal action.

I await some form of reply.
