They are?The lycra brigade will be mobilising as they think bus lanes are their domain.
Speaking as a lifelong biker, car driver and cyclist I can honestly say that the most arrogant, entitled road users I have ever met, who think the rules don't apply to them, are the so named lycra brigade. They are?
Motorised bicycles have also had free use of bus lanes in London for many years, don’t know what applies elsewhere. In my experience it was blinking uncomfortable using them when traffic wasn’t moving great, always the fear of a car diving across to go into a side turning or similar.
Isn't it lovely to share the road with other forms of transport.
Also as a member of all three groups I can honestly say that car/van/lorry drivers demonstrated the worst/most careless behaviour when I was cycling.Speaking as a lifelong biker, car driver and cyclist I can honestly say that the most arrogant, entitled road users I have ever met, who think the rules don't apply to them, are the so named lycra brigade.
Their persistent belief that the rules of the road should favour them, yet blatantly ignore them when it suits are the reasons why so many road users now despise cyclists.
When they started the trial to allow motorcycles in bus lanes years ago the cycling groups were extremely vociferous in their lobbying to have it rescinded, claiming that cyclists safety would be put at risk.
Subsequently it was shown that during the trial there were zero collisions between cyclists and motorcycles and that the danger to cyclists was the same as before. ie. car/bus/van/truck vs cyclist.
For the life of me I cannot understand why a) all cyclists get tarred with the same brush which is patently unfair and b) why everyone can’t just share the road, acknowledging the positives and drawbacks of all typesof road transport, not least in terms of vulnerability and safety.
Maybe a reflection of the self entitled world we now live in??
