Hi
Can anybody let me know a good engine Oil for the Blackbird.
I always think that it is best to put a good oil in your Engine rather than a cheap one, look after your engine & the engine will look after you, unless some else know's different.:neenaw:

From previous threads on this subject it seems to be that a good quality mineral oil or a semi-synthetic is best. Apparently fully synthetic is not suitable for the Blackbird.
Personally i use semi-synthetic but cant remember which one it was.
Hope that helps

Silkolene..........

Semi-synth does it for me as well........Honda main dealer does the servicing (would prefer to do it meself but need to get the service book stamped cos it's still under warranty) and he recommends semi-synth for the 'Bird.

semi-synth, because if you get caught short you can, at a push put ordinary oil in and it will mix. Fully synth, no chance. Castrol GPS approx ?24.00 from Halfords is good stuff.:}

Hi birdy-blue
Thanks for information, i did not know that you could mix ordinary oil with semi-synth, (you see) you learn something every day.

You're Welcome Peter..........

Go for a 'named' brand and you won't go far wrong.

The ingredients, chemicals and additives in most of the well-known brands won't differ too much anyway.....so it's basically down to what your local dealer keeps in stock.

Oh....and on the subject of oil changing...my advice....don't buy cheapie oil filters. Go for Honda OE or a respected after-market make.....not a 'made in the third world special' !!!!! I've seen them things break up and do untold damage to the lump.:B

Cheers M8
