Bike exhausts.

One would have to be blind not to notice the IMHO ugly exhausts which are fitted to most bikes these days. Is it fashion or a result of regulation? I see the new V85 from Moto Guzzi has a traditional exhaust.

Back in the day my mate had a CB750 F1 and he fabricated his own 4-1, sounded amazing...

It is partially regs ( esp the new Euro 4 shite ) and partially fashion

The fashion bit I put in the same category as gays openly snogging on prime time TV. I care not what they do in private but do we all have to look at it? What really gets up my nose though are the lobby groups plaguing Westminster. Friends of Israel for example.

Its regs causing the change to huge ugly exhausts, most makers want their bikes to make power but have to meet stringent regulations for noise & emissions, its easier to do all three of those things if you have bigger area to work with ;)

So how is that Moto Guzzi are using a traditional exhaust or is that only a mock up on a pre-production bike. I regret immensely that I have never owned a Guzzi.

I don't know but its appears to be injected & I would guess from the styling they wont be looking for outright power, a fair bit can be done with mapping to quieten things down at certain revs (where its tested) so that may account for some of it

There may be a cat in there somewhere which will clean up the emissions & also act as another silencer, apart from that all I can think of is its a mock up & there will be another box under the bike somewhere like a lot of current sports bikes or maybe they are showing you what you can have when you buy their horrendously expensive sports system

I reckon it a wait & see job

That's a far better effort than the last Guzzi adventure bike. (y)
