Having tried, and failed:cry: , to sit on a Bird, Ive got my sights on 2 models to get back on the road.
ST1100 or FJR13.

Ive ridden tha FJR and am fairly comfortable sitting on them
I've seen one for sale and would like some comments etc before I commit.

It's an 04 plate 1 owner ABS one with full luggage fsh and done 33,000 miles:eek:

On offer at ?4995

What do you peeps think?

Anyone living in Oxford who would be willing to drop into a local dealer to give it a once over?:dunno:

As its the best part of 400 miles from me I dont really want to travel if its a shed.

I can get a flight to Heathrow for ?43 though.

I'm oing to call the dealer in the morning and if all sounds ok I might just go for it this weekend.

chuffmeister, you have mail.

Derek, you are right the Bandit 12 is a blast. I had one of the last of the original model (W plate) from new with a race pipe. Best ?4400 Ive ever spent. That was new, from an official dealer, sold it to buy the Bird.
Dont think I would have another though. Too much like hard work stopping them corrode away before your eyes, even if you garage them and wash them after every ride,
Bloody quick with the pipe though, indicated 165mph at 1000miles:bow:
A traffic copper sold his bird to buy my bandit "to slow him down"
3 months later he added Nitros:yo:
Oh yes and theres Suzuki UK's version of customer service too:tosser:

I agree about the suzuki uk service, but the 600 bandit I had was used daily all year round I had it from new [V reg] & kept it three years it still looked in showroom condition when I sold it mind you it did have a complete new front end on.

Bikes

Hi Partytime.
Just my two bobs worth.

The 2 bikes you have mentioned are a lot heavier than the Bird. I really loved my Bird and the only reason I sold it was because of the weightiness, for that reason I would say to try a test ride on a Fazer 1000 :yo: they are worth a look.

Zippo.

Cheers Zippo,
I'm ok with the weight of the bikes, its the seating position I'm having difficulty with , Birds included.
I get cramp in my left hip joint as soon as I try to put my left foot on the peg.
I was fine after a 1 1/2 hour test ride of an FJR though.

Hopefull, in a year or so, I'll be able to go back to a barge

it is a very tidy bike despite the mileage, but was sold as soon as it was advertised

Still, a quick mornings filtering thru oxford rush hour is always enjoyable

Like I said in my e-mail,

Your a true gent,
Thanks for helping
If it was still for sale I'd be on my way to the airport now:xm

Theres one in Tom Conways in Durham, Same age & mileage but he wants a grand more @ 5995. I called and he offered it for 5600. Apparently it has been dropped on lhs from a standstill.

Allan Duffus has one with 8k miles on too for ?7500. I nearly pissed myself laughing.......

having a spot of l4m3r issues so no email as yet, and was a pleasure, not done rush hour riding for a long time b0x2

and even with the mileage the bike was a steal,

another local dealer has a 51 plate for ?6k with 15, 000 miles no luggage

and a 04 plate for ?7.5k

MAN on the PAN
If your after a comfy bike why not ( dare i say) try a BMW Gs ?
i was having knee & ankle problems with the Bird and none whatsoever with the gs

ianrobbo1

good looking AND modest
been sat upon both Edd and Cyclops"Ian"s GS's Edd's was too heavy/big for me, but was very comfortable to sit in, whilst Ian's 650 fitted like a glove was easy to hold and felt "right" so without all the shit that flies when BM's are mentioned might I suggest you at least give them a try!! cant do any harm!! :dunno:

I actually do quite like the BMW1150/1200gs range
Didn't really think I'd get a decent one for the money I've got.

Might do a search though
