Thanks for all that great info mikew, all I can say is your a very unlucky guy. TBH it's very very rare for anyone to ever have any problems with Jap bikes. Unlike BMW's who seem to have far too many for a quality Brand!!

DK Motorcycles was flogging off latest (quite cool looking) KLE 500 for around ?3,500 OTR.........These came in a choice of latest colours making the old girl look years younger.........cheap as chips, light but punchy engine and warrenty inc.........!

For all those recommendations for "pure" Trailie style bike, NoBBy did say that he wanted the bike for 2 up work and country lanes d34l , not to cripple his passenger and have piles at the end of a runout!

Strom, or a TDM900 are excellent bikes for this.
Varaderaos are big and thirsty.
Aprilia Caponord?
Honda Africa Twin?
Transalp?

Not a problem, happy to pass on any relevant info. Like I said, most of the woes I suffered were due to dealer screwups and plain indifference.

Now the bike is a real pleasure to ride, I've fitted a few comfort and convienence features, heated grips, mainstand, Pro-Oiler system, and an extra electrical socket for any stuff we want to charge up (e.g.phones ).

I agree, it is rare to have this number of problems on a Jap bike, but heres' hoping I've had them all at the right time, i.e. inside the warranty period. I have to say that it didn't cost me a single penny to get the repairs done, just felt a bit pissed off cos the bike always seemed to be at the workshop in those early months.

I've got a 2003 Tiger 955i and I think it's brilliant, as you can see I've just had it customised which includes a Blueflame twin Port Carbon can and a race can tune (which you can't see!) I think its a brilliant bike, sound and goes as well as this type of bike can (not in Blacky territory) but I would recommend them to anyone.

Smix, most people on here know how OTT I am with my paintwork so it aint a surprise, only surprise is that I didn't opt for a pink Tiger, but that would be Berts domain !

Fantastic bike but not really any good for two-up. Carrying a pillion necessitates moving quite far forward which disturbs weight distribution and handling as well as comfort. If you only carry a passenger now and then or they are a size 8, definitely the way to go (my wife's a size 12).

She won't go on the bike anymore fl4g71

Actually, I am..

I miss the ride outs Emma & myself went on.
I quite liked having her jugs pushed into my back all day and not having to listen to the bl4hbl4h bl4hbl4h bl4hbl4h ..

Then i bought an AUTOCOM

NOW she doesn't come out on the bike anymore

Yeah, nobody to give me a dig in the back when they think I'm going too fast or filtering too closely - If I do get tired of riding alone I'll have to trade her in...... The wife I mean.
