I believed I was invincible, that I could never die
I thought that if my bike had wings, I could really make her fly
I laughed at all the beemers & subaru?s who came racing from the rear
I deliberately goaded them, then raced ahead, no fear
The ecstasy and pleasure gained with each twisting of the throttle
The toying with the traffic at warp speed, was testament to my bottle
But even the best of us are prone, to make the odd mistakes
And mine was on a greasy patch, where I chose to use my brakes
The result of which leaves me here, on this hospital bed
With a nurse sat by my side, just so I can be fed.
I dearly wish I could see my children, and my lovely wife
But they don?t want a broken cripple? They?d rather have a life
I can?t even raise a smile, thinking of all the fun
My future has been wiped out, at the age of thirty one.
