s04pb0x6 Have to agree we've done three at Thetford, wouldn't go again. Would love to meet everybody again but at another venue. We'd certainly be up for Holland or a tail ender. Would be nice if where ever it was has decent facilities. :dunno:

As for smart cars you've got to be having a laugh :tosser: hope something can be sorted out k1ap

Hi peeps....

Well, I will try to put this in my most diplomatic of ways....Hoping not to offend anyone..... Not my intention...

Wotnot... Great to meet you & the Mrs on Friday night...Great idea for a new venue, and it is a great site ....

I know how much effort & time John puts into the bash, and how much it means to him... But I also feel that after 5 years at Thetford, the reason for the "apathy", and non-attendance this year is a feeling of ....Thetford "been there-done that".....

It has been put forward 2 or 3 times now about having the bash at A N Other venue, and this has always been rejected due to noise/drunken behaviour reasons...

If I may put forward a proposal which works for the huge German blackbird club. The annual meetings (2 in germanys case) move around the country, organised by the various "local" branches, all of whom try to out do each other, therefore providing a more varied & entertaining meeting...

Gypsy organised the "end of Season" bash last year, which was rained out of play, but we still had a brilliant time in the pub...LOL (who wouldnt ??)

I am not trying to step on amyones toes here, but am just putting forward my opinion, after seeing an enjoyable, but very low attendance bash this year...

Also, if we add the Smartcar group to this, it wont be The BIRD Bash, and could turn into a very cliquey (as opposed to clic) event...Would it be called the SmartBird bash ??? Maybe I am being rather selfish, I dont know...

IMHO, a Bash, moved around the country, and organised by local sections of the club could inject some well needed enthusiasm back into the BIRD group...

Just my thoughts...

Ok, you only have to look at how many people are showing an intrest in the bash, nearly cancelled due to lack of intrest, making the numbers up with (smart car owners) :dunno: not the way to go i think, i have been to three bashes at Thetford, had a great time, a lot of effort put in by many people, but if some one else is willing to take it on then go for it.
I have made some very good friends at the bashes and would like to see the (Blackbird Bash) continue, albeit at a diferent location

More people, more events

Hi all good people, w;;v w4lc0m3

Please stop arguing (disscussing)b0x1 and being elitist (exclusive). You all ride the fastest 0 to 60 prduction road bike in the world (2.78 seconds). Personally I'd jump at the chance to impress car drivers with this sort of info. It would also be an ideal oportunity to increase awareness of motorbikes on the road. And that bikers are human and friendly.g0551p Another thought what easy pickings for converts to the BB and visa versa (I do hear that some bike owners also use cars?

What better way to follow the legendary ped race than with a smart race if there up for it.

I have not had the chance to go to a bash yet and if a date is not sorted soon I still wont get to go:violin: . The last bash I went to was the Kent custom show in 1989 or 1990. It is very difficult for me to get time off on aparticular day as I work in a small unit and only 2 people allowed off at one time so I need to book early.

As for the bash getting staid what you need is new members comming along so instead of replacing/changing the existing bashes why not have extra ones it would give a lot more people a chance to come along at one time or anothersmilie_koc

Does anyone do regular track days as I would like to do some. I am not fast but that is the only way to get quicker.

Sorry if I ranted a bit there but I am a lone BB rider the only run ive been on was a fireblade one!

Nicely put Paddy, this year was my first Thetford bash & I really enjoyed it, as you say there are new members joining all the time who have not experienced it yet so to them it is still new, personally I am looking forward to next year & meeting yet more people.

Let's not forget all the hard work put in by Jaws/Mo etc to organise this event, I organise a works Christmas do every year for approx 20 people & finding venues at the right price & getting the money from people is not easy so I can appreciate the time & effort put in, as has already been said the end of season bash is for different venues, so for my money I say stick with the current formula.

Answering to nobody
I don't give a toss where it is personally, as long as the same great humour runs free and we all get along as we did this year AGAIN then i'm happy.

I don't even own a BIRD yet i was made to feel welcome arriving in my car.

I can't be doing with pomp and snobbery, the BIRD club has very little of this with its members now....... i like it.
The most down to earth, law abiding  group of mis-fits i've had the pleasure of.

LOL... Had a look at that MX5 thread....

Took mine to a wife swap, and couldnt even get a cheap socket set for her...(Dont you dare tell her I said thatfl4g71)

Yes, we are looking to get an MX5... I know its not the quickest of little cars, but who gives a shite anyway... Gorra blackbird for that...Anyway, I spend most of my life at 56 mph, so an MX5 is quite quick compared to that..LOL

Just want one for nice little jollies into 't country with a picanic basket when the sun is out...

Best to ya John & Dawn

someone to organise a ride out.
someone to organise a wify thing (if they dont want to go on the ride out)
someone to organise pass the buck ... sorry parcel.
someone to organise the weather
someone to erect my tent

The VFR AGRO has been going to the same venue at Norwich for several years now.. and believe me the cost of that weekend away is a darn site more than ?22.00 !!

Sorry but where do you get that info from J.?

I've been to every VFR agro, and this year was the first year it's been in Norwich :dunno: :dunno:

The thinking is not to have the event in the same area, but move it around the country, so that different people can have easier access to the event, as well as different runs and leaders each time.
Revolutionary thinking isn't it?

Unfortunately a different class of price as well:cry:

We are only lookin to pay about ?3.5k, so that puts the S2000 out of the frame...Got our eyes on a nice little Monaco MX5 in Southampton at the moment... Just under ?3k and in superb condition...

Thanks anyway Rob...Glad to see you had a nice time at Sheepfest...Would have loved to go, but my left wrist just wouldnt have coped with the riding..

Best wishes,

Rolfy

SUMMER BASH 2007

Ok talked it over with my woman and would like some input
we moved to france this year with the idea of opening a campsite and b&b
we won't be open fully till next summer and would like to put forward
a bash over here but not to compete with jaws c7u8
we were thinking to ask you lot
a) what you want at a bash
b) how long to run for
c) when ?
d) and anything else
we are a good 6 hours away from the ports in the limousin region
and when we do open we will be a biker stop anyway
so what do you think
