Went to my daughters at Westbury near Bristol on Monday for the New Year. Got to Inverness Airport at 10am and checked in for Bristol flight then went through to departures and waited but incoming was diverted to Aberdeen because of Inverness fog. Our flight cancelled. So collect luggage and join queue to find out options. Elected to be bussed to Edinburgh to catch the 8.55 flight from there. So didn't get bus until 16.30. Arrived at Edinburgh just as bus broke down at the barrier. Unloaded luggage and climbed barrier, checked in and got flight. Daughter picked us up at Bristol airport and we got to her house at around 11.40pm.
Came back today. Freezing fog at Bristol. Delay while de-icer sprayed on plane. Took off in fog and enjoyed a good flight as far as central Scotland when the pilot said Inverness was fogged in and we diverted to Aberdeen. Got bussed from Aberdeen to Inverness and home at last. Nightmare journeys but good time in between. can't win 'em all :-0)
