...But... ...What will be..?

Watching the first video made me remember how young he was ? how young we all were ? and of what he brought to motorcycle racing.

He turned bike racing on its head.

?He?s won nine World Championships.

?He wants to win ten.

?He?s back on his favourite bike.

?He?s still competitive as a rider and he?s not going to give up now.

?Would you?

You know, watching that first vid, I have just started to realise how he does what he does..

Absolute and total precision.. I doubt there will be another like him in my lifetime

They're already here, John, in the shape of Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Marquez - and i have to mention the recently-departed Mr. Stoner.

There are no secrets in racing and one of Rossi's biggest complaints was that his data was being accessed by Lorenzo. That made it easier for Jorge to understand how Rossi used the bike when he was at Yamaha.

No problem there, really - until Lorenzo demonstrated that he wasn't just good enough to be able to copy Rossi's riding style - he was so good that he could improve upon it.

For years, Rossi was the most consistent, and the fastest rider in the GP paddock. That's changed now. There are others at least as fast - and almost as consistent as he is.

I hope he can re-establish himself at the top of the new hierarchy.

I was doing a bit of reminiscing (as yer do) when I realised that it's not just the racing hierarchy that's changed - our lives have changed significantly, too.

The global economic crash has impacted on every area of human activity, and racing is no exception. Attendances are suffering. But I never realised how hard-hitting these problems were until I started looking back.

Have a look here as what I'm saying is easier to quantify in pictures, rather than words.

...Just off ter slit me wrists...
