Steve, if the diaphram is tonking neat petrol into cyl #2 it could do some serious damage to the bore and rings. Suggest you don't run it again till it's fixed.
It's possible for the bore and rings to suffer excessive wear due to washout of the oil from the bore.
Triumph have a similar problem on the triples, where the secondary air injection fails open, and the O2 sensor in the exhaust says, more petrol ! more petrol ! Eventually all three cyls lose compression. to the point where it becomes more and more difficult to start, then ultimately won't start.
