Planned Date: Saturday 7th July

Hi guys.

Originally posted here: Beach BBQ But as is always the case, any biker (and their mates) is welcome whatever they ride.

All the details are on the original thread but very quickly, I have an annual BBQ on the beach at Sand Bay just North of Weston-super-mare. Bring your own food & drink, I provide disposable BBQs and fire wood.

We all have some nosh and sit by the fire chatting and breathing fire (well some of us do!!) till it gets very dark and then head home with a bunch of mates about 11ish on the personal racetracks known as the M5 & M4 at that time of night :yo:

You can meet us there in the evening or during the day. I'm doing a rideout from Burford (A40, between Oxford and Cheltenham).

Itinerary is:

Leave Burford at 11.30am

12.30 Arrive at the Red Lion and the stones at Avebury for lunch (local biker haunt)

2pm Set off Past Devizes to go over the Salsbury Plains then up to Wells and to Wooky Hole. Arrive Wooky Hole about 3.45pm to do the tour.

Ride through Cheddar and down the backroads to arrive at the beach at sand bay just before 7pm

There is camping with a heated outdoor pool and a bar 200 metres away from the site or else its only 2 miles into weston centre where there's loads of B&Bs for those who want to drink and stay overnight. Although I will be waiting till its gone 11pm then racing my v-tec against any birds who want to follow me up the M5 instead! :neenaw:

Stick your name down if you're interested any quessies just ask!! :yo:

Tom M

PS If its going to be wet it will be postponed

PPS all Bikers welcome whatever they ride whether they are members or not.

Edit: I have the autoroute file but unlike the VFR forum I cant upload it. If you want it let me know.

Cool.

The other plan for a rideout depending on who wants what was to wookey hole. If that happens I'll let you know and we could meet there (although you've probably visited it 100 times!).

Hi Guys,

great to see a few of you fancy meeting up.

The Autoroute file with times is Here, but currently the plan is to leave Burford at 11.30am (we're not early birds, more like late night bats) get to the OK Diner at Leominster for 1pm, have just over an hour there and get to Sandy bay for 5 ish, start cooking about 6.30, although we may need to stop off to get some extra Kindling or the likes (I will be taking some anyhow and the beach normally has plenty of driftwood).

Sandy Bay on the road atlas is literally the next bay up from weston with only the point seperating them but unlike weston there's real sand!! We Normally park our bikes in the Commodore Pub and walk over the road to one of the dunes opposite. I have attached a Jpeg of the exact location below.

Smix & Mart, if you want to do your own rideout during the day, feel free to post it up and others might want to join (you could even send me the axe file and I will stick it on the VFR site too). As long as we all meet up in the evening thats the main thing. R#?

Yeah ok Smix will do.
To the others attending may i suggest a detour over the Mendip Hills? In particular Cheddar Gorge and Burrington Combe on the way to Weston.

What do you think Sammi?

ah well - my favourite is Chewton Plain and the Bristol Hill!!! But thats just cos i'm allergic to finding goats in the middle of the road and I don't know Burrington as well as I know the other two!!!!!!!!!! :}:}:}

but I know that Burrington and Cheddar Gorge are good roads too!!

I'll happily go whichever way - just slowly down the Gorge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :}:}

Any more fancy an evening of BBQ's and Beaches??

The route for heading into wales hasnt tempted any of the welsh members out either here or on the VFR site so it may be subject to change. Its been bloody years since I went to Wooky hole so I may sort a route down to there before heading to the beach.

Ok decided to edit the route. I have altered the 1st post accordingly and attached the Jpg below. If you want the autoroute file let me know or else download it from the VFR site in the link Here.

Now planning on going to Avebury for lunch (at the red lion, the local bikers meet), then across Salisbury plain to Wooky Hole. Have a look at the caves and then get to the beach just before 7pm. Parking the bikes in the Commodore inn's car park. :yo:

Smixx and anyone else in the area, If you want to meet us on the rideout let me know. :k

BBQ

Had been hoping to attend but the 7th is the Yeovilton air day and I have to work at it. It's also the missus birthday so unless I can pursuade her that this is a huge birthday party on the beach with people she's never met I won't be there. Youu never know though, I can be persuasive.....look into the eyes, not around the eyes...............

Weather is looking pretty poor at the moment but if its dry I'mstil doing the BBQ (if its wet then it'll be postponed to next weekend if the weather is ok).

So, as long as the weather is good anyone still planning on coming?

Alternatively you can meet us for Lunch at the Red Lion at Avebury at about 12.30pm.

Weather is now looking pretty good!! :yo: :yo: :yo:

I've attached the forecast below for weston and its the same for Burford. so currently I think we are 85% on for tomorrow. I hope so as Jabberwocky is coming over from Cardiff to stay with us tonight!!

Set off time tomorrow is 11.30am from Burford and we hope to be at the Red Lion at Avebury for 12.30pm, although anyone is welcome to meet us down at Sand bay anytime after 7pm instead.

Let me know if you're interested, Dont forget your food and drink and I'll post again before we go. :yo:
