A nice bit of national speed limit road and on it sits a truvelo camera, a rear facing site. Normally on the way to work no probs as it faces me, this morning wazzing along as you do when "Shit..brake" the camera has been repositioned to point the other.

Not sure if this on purpose or the work of a disgruntled motorist. There are sensors in the road before and after the camera across both so I suppose it can be repositioned. Do cameras get repositioned ? Can a truvelo be bofe forward and reward facing ?

Did anyone see top gear last night ?
Seems that the overhead signs on the motorway had better be payed more attention to
Im sure some have you have seen speed restrictions still being posted when the accident/incident have been cleared, but did you know that they automatically trigger the speed cameras to that setting so you could be travelling on a perfectly clear motorway at 65 mph and still get done for speeding.
It must be true cos Jeremy says so

If its one of the older camera's, with the reddish tint on the lens and a circular shaped lens, its probably forward only..... if its in a central position between both lanes it could have been positioned to face on coming traffic on the other lane/side... you should be able to tell by its angle which side of the road its covering.

If its on your side only, best not to risk it.... If its an old circ lens/reddish it could have been turned round to con peeps into thinking its a rear facing camera and may not have film in it.

I read somewhere about 2 or 3 years ago that over 50% of cameras do not have film in (but still flash)... I expect with todays revenue collection this figure is now incorrect.

Over the past 5 years I have been flashed a couple of times.... with 2 weeks of sweat and a bit of luck heard nothing.

truvelo cameras

Unlike Gatso, Truvelo cameras are triggered by passing over 3 magnetic strips on the road.It is possioble to speed past and not trigger them if you ride in the gutter or crown of the road where the strips end. i.e. Don't ride over the magnetic strips. IF you are unlucky (careless) enough to receive an NIP it's worth looking at , and go to PACE letter. :xm

The new gantries on the M42 around Brum have all been fitted with cameras that are set to the flashing speed limits  as I'm sure they have elsewhere around this nanny state :tosser:

Any one read the freebie paper that was given out at the BMF ?

Article about a guy oop north that questioned an NIP, so the authorities flew an 'expert' in from the USA. Accused decides to accept the NIP, but court rules he has to pay all costs of getting the 'expert' to blighty, plus court costs of ?600.

Total bill was just over ?4500  sh1tehppns

I think you have gotta be 200% sure you were'nt speeding, and be able to prove it, before taking it to court.

..............ahh but they are not working. There has been an almighty cock up and the radar and software do not work. Many hours of reprogramming to be done.
