Advice on Repairs

Hi,

I have just been doing some bits to the BB and managed to place it on its side in the garage. I recently (Last week) fitted some crash mushroons that saved a lot of the fairing, but I am still upset and would like some thoughts from the experienced on the best way to get the repairs done.

Damage is:

RH front Indicator cowling badly scuffed
RH Lower Fairing panel lots of little scuffs (Won't polish out)
RH hero blob broken off the footrest with the screw thread still in the footrest

My Pride irrepairable

I am assuming that it is cheaper to get them repaired than get new ones, but could anyone give me an idea of the cost of spaying a panel and also does JAWS sell single crash mushrooms as I have only dropped it on one side.

I still don't know weather to laugh or cry, so please be gentle with the comments.:xm

Send me your old shroom and a replacement will come to you FOC mike.. no worries mate :p

Indicator cowl ?20.00 +vat and post from David Silver

Panel.. not soo easy .. what colour is the bike ?

Footpeg.. no prob..

Use a Dremel type mini drill with a cutting disk in it.
Cut a slot in the bit that is stuck in the peg ( dont worry about cutting into the peg as well, no one will notice that under there ! ) and then remove the bit with a screw driver :p

I had to do a respray job on my lower fairing and mirror, if the mirror is that badly damaged you might be better off getting a new one as they about ?25, if you want to respray (mirror and fairing), i found RS Paints quite good and they give full instructions on how to get it back to a professional finish, worked for me and i'd never resprayed anything before in my life, if your interested i'll see if can find the number for you, thing is there not to cheap.
Someone on here might be able to find you a cheaper alternative but i had real trouble finding someone that could match the paint.

Forgot about this option for the pegs, Ian's right, they are indeed really easy to fit and look a lot better than the originals.

Jaws,
You are a gentleman and a scholar, I was only joking about the mushroom, but I will stick it in the post next week.

The bike is a 04 Candy Blue.

I suppose it could have been a lot worse, I got away without damaging the brake lever or bar end. I also answered the question that has bothered me since I got the BB " Could I ever lift the bike on my own if I had to?".

I will see if I can get the local repair shop that did my wifes car to respray the panels. I only hope they can match the colour.

If not I will probably get a new cowling from the source you mentioned and try and get a new side panel later.

Many thankssh1tehppns

Getting them resprayed

Steamy,

I will put some pictures together and send them to you before I give you a bell, but the damage is just cosmetic with lots of small scratches. You must have seen it a mllion times if you do this for a living, however I would hate to discuss costs without you at least seeing whats to be done.

My other problem will be getting them in and back from the post without 'She that must think she is being obeyed' finding out.

Many thanks
Mike

i bought a half litre of the candy blue paint last year, it comes in two stages , and requires the application of a dye to the main paint with the silver fleck through it. you then achieve a colour match with coat appliance (1 too many and its too dark, one less and its too light!) it cost me 90 quid:cry:

steamy i'll remember your kind offer mate should i park my bike horizontally again:yo:
