I know from experience that some RT 1200's had problems with the immobiliser receiver not getting the signal from the key...quite annoying after waiting for something to happen then when it did the damn bike not starting.Son-in-law tells me today BMs are having a lot of tech problems, just not starting for no apparent reason.
Service light came on on new bike.
His mate brought it to dealer and was given it back with service light on.
Don't know what end was.
This happened years ago with anti theft.
No, AlpineStars.Looks like a Sidi to me?
That’s cool Tony, I bought it for me and I don’t expect everyone else to like it .I have a bit of a soft spot for older Bm's but sorry Paul that does nothing for me at all
Not that my opinion counts mate, if it makes you happy then its all good
I won’t deny the pocket tennis (better than a sock) but I will stick with it looking hideous. Too few wheels and too many indicators. No, AlpineStars.

I just find it annoying when the likes of Beaker and Dezza claim it’s hideous when they’re both looking at the pictures and playing pocket tennis.
My bike is less than two weeks old and she has a three year warranty, so this isn’t something I have to concern myself with anytime soon. One of the reasons I switched to BMW was after Jaws reports of things like the bolts and fasteners on his new (I think) Triumph starting to fur up in his garage, plus other stuff I don’t recall now. He switched to a GS and had nothing bad to say about it so if they’re good enough for him then I’m more than happy.Son-in-law tells me today BMs are having a lot of tech problems, just not starting for no apparent reason.

As you may recall, Mrs P is a spud-chomping, bog trotter. She’ll tarmac the drive when it reaches the top of her list of priorities. No excuses or defence on either count
Is she a relative of the guy who did some work on my extension - Paddy O’Doors? As you may recall, Mrs P is a spud-chomping, bog trotter. She’ll tarmac the drive when it reaches the top of her list of priorities.

As far as I understand he didn't accept the bike. The service lights on a BM bike are timed.
It will come on after a year no matter what, so chances are it has sat in a show room for nearly a year
The dealer is a prick and so was his mate for accepting it back with the light on !
Sorry, no kind way to wrap it up !
After 15 years of BM ownership and being a member of various owners clubs and forums I am confident in saying your S I L has not got a CLUE that which he speaks
Son-in-law tells me today BMs are having a lot of tech problems, just not starting for no apparent reason.
Because the way it reads in your post it is your S I L bike that a mate took to a dealer AND your last sentence says he was given the bike back with the service light on.As far as I understand he didn't accept the bike.
I don't understand why you say he hasn't a clue. He's telling the story as he knows it.
He wouldn't have any interest in BMWs.
is that a new forum rule?Folk can only go on what you let them know
Further to what John has posted, if your SIL has no interest in BMWs how is he in a position to comment on them having tech issues? As far as I understand he didn't accept the bike.

His mate has the bike and was the source of details. SIL was a bit shocked at the treatment by the dealer.Further to what John has posted, if your SIL has no interest in BMWs how is he in a position to comment on them having tech issues?
