Anyone ridded or owned one? Always fancied one and am seriously considering it - they are relatively cheap for what they are.

I fancy one but have never ridden one. A bloke I was talking to had a BB and then Busa. Now has ZZR and reckons its the best of the 3. Awesomely quick and handles great in comparison. I'd like a test on one.

Guy in work has one - loves it - he went from a blackbird.

Only issue for him is the healthy apetite for rear tyres that it has.

And if you ride all year round - the finish is not a patch on a blackbird.

I also reckon they will get cheaper used when the new model comes out.

It's on my list to test next year with the S1000RR, HP2, RSV4 and ZX10R.

Yes I've ridden one, we did a bike swap this summer during the touring hols. It was okay I suppose. It was nice to get back on the bird though. He even said the bird was much more comfortable. I found the kwak easier to flick round bends and generally of a more sporty feel but not as smooth. It seemed taller too and looks a bit plasticy; when compared with the Honda. I preferred my own bike though and would much rather do high mileages on my bird; even if it does look a bit dated.

Just sold mine ... don't do it !

I was looking for a new bike in early 2009 having had a VFR800 for 3 years, and various bikes - including a BB before that I wanted a 1100+ engine sports tourer and had some redundancy to pay for it - so having decided against a 'Busa - I went for a 2 year old low mileage ZZR1400.
In some ways a great bike .... powerful engine - no low rev flat spot like the BB - but after 2 years of ownership I wanted to sell and go back to a Blackbird. I just couldn't love the bike.
Build quality is nothing like Honda - and I thought the bike felt very heavy at low speed. The tyres were past their best at the end but I never liked the handling like I did my previous bikes.
Got another older BB in July and from the first minute it felt so much better. I think one big problem is the ZZR is simply too powerful for every day use .... grab a handful and you are are about to lose your license every time, and I ended up driving it slower. Go up to 6k revs through the gears and it's a fast bike - try the same at 9k revs and you nearly lose your grip on the bars and your neck muscles get a right working !
"Wow great" I hear you say - but it's all about your general riding ... and being able to relax and enjoy your bike's power ? With the ZZR1400 you are either at wharp speed then hard on the brakes - or plodding in traffic which it hates.
The BB is very fast .... very smooth through the gears - and you always feel you are part of the bike ..... whereas on the ZZR you don't get that feeling (unless on big open fast roads and motorways..)
I know some guys who really like their ZZR - but not for me. Plus it is not easy to set up for touring mods, a set of plugs/coil sticks is ?160 fitted, and Kwak bikes just don't keep their "new" look like a BB .....
If you want a fat muscle-bike type feel bike and want to hoon around at break neck speed all day - go for it ......

They do look nice, just not a BB. My solution was to fit a ZZ front end and carry on enjoying the BB with better handling & brakes...

My other half swapped BB (52' ) for ZZR1400(06)

Hi, my other half (Bubble) px'd his 52' for a 06' (non abs) ZZR1400.

The things that have been done to bring it to a suitable standard:-

1.MCT mod - front forks - new upgraded springs and oil (BB)
2.Wilbers rear shock with remote preload (BB)
3.New front brake disc's(the Stop shop) and SB pads front & rear.
4.Sw motech rear rack (BB)
5 SW Motech V35 pannier rails (BB)
6.New Plugs/oil/Air(BB).
7 Rocker cover gasket and valve check (original gasket was too thin - hence leaked down to side stand and bike 'skided over 06-07 only')
8 Centre Stand (like the BB)
9.Beowolf cans & DYNO (BB) - 174 Bhp @ back wheel.
10.Replacement 'seat by 'Bootleg seats - Preston'(BB)
11. Lowered rider pegs (BB) - Buel modified.
12 Radiator Guard (BB)
13.Crash bungs (BB)
14.Avon storm 2 - ultra's (BB)
15 Bar risers (BB)

These were costed/expected prior to changing to the ZZR 1400.

Pro's - Bloody fast and comfortable, handles (now) like on rails, has the 'Manic Kwak Magic'(you have to know this-lol),turning circle much better/easier, weight low.
Con's - High insurance, not as stable in the winds as the BB, will eat petrol if you let it LOL.

Yes you can do silly speeds but you can on the BB - you decide not the bike- the ZZR justs get there quicker.
The pick up from 6th gear is NOT as good as the BB- you have to change down to 5th on the ZZR1400 for the same result.

But Bubble had the ZZR 1400 itch and has had ALL 3 types of BB (YES the CARB IS THE BEST).

Ps BB stands for the items that most owners have changed /done.

Sara B (I STILL HAVE A BB- INJ '2000' and 'he ' lets me ride the ZZR1400 as well!!!)
