Depends on the rider, Bev's cousin had a 600 Bandit, he & several friends went from Sherburn to Brid & back, he got to Brid before any of his mates & got back to Sherburn before any of them, his was the smallest bike.

Clueless in most things
Had a 93 D1 as my first legal bike. For its age it was very useable and quite solid. The blackbird that came later was lighter, not too much difference in comfort, better brakes etc.

I would quite happily own another zz but would view them as a price range. If I had ?1,500 for a minter then I'd have the zz, any thing more money wise I'd go for a blackbird. Mind you if I had ?4,500 I'd have a zz14

I've had both. Currently on a ZZR1100D2. Very comfortable, much more so than the BB, but I've added bar risers to enhance this as I have slight arthritis; I added risers to the Bird as well, but still couldn't get the same comfy feel. ZZR not so high too, so feet down is a piece of cake, but heavier, but this not a problem once on the move. I think the ZZR is faster on acceleration, certainly feels like it, and I like the way it sounds too. Given a choice, I'd choose the ZZR for its comfort, the Bird was okay for around 20 miles, then made me ache, I could go all day on the K.

Bird all day long. My mate had a zzr1100 D1 which was a limted edition. My bird is a y2k and would beat him off the line and I wouldn't see him again till we stoped for a brew and a smoke. Ive used his zzr loads and everything about the bird is just a little bit better.

But thats my opinion and as am not your mum or dad and I dont pay your bills it means fook all to anyone but me@tu*

I've given up on trying to master a smoth change on the bird. Sometimes it is and sometimes it aint. Just depends what mood she is in. I have known the zzr to jump out of second into nutral:bang:

I had problems with the gear change on my Speed Triple. I kept hitting false neutrals on a basis of one change in ten, especially at higher speeds.

Anyhoo, went back to the dealers thinking my 'box was shagged (shouldn't have been on a new bike!) and it turned out that it was the position of the gear lever (I have small feet). They adjusted the lever with me sat on the bike and that cured the problem.

I've not had any problems changing gear on my injected 'Bird or on me carb'd one years ago. Could it be something simple like the position of your gear lever or am I talking bollocks again? :-0)
