Yes, I owned one for a while. They're a nice bike, with reasonable comfort and pretty robust engine. Tell him to check the downpipes, as they are not stainless steel and can corrode through. The brake calipers tend to stick if they've not been well serviced as well.

Had one as my first bike. Regret selling!!.Ideal as a first bike and suprisingly quick as well as being easy to ride. Check rear shock as it is a known weakness.

A very good bike, hard to work on engine wise, to get to it you start with the rear grab handle, :eek:

Weak points are :- rear shock, swing arm bearings, all the brake calipers, warped discs, rotten headers, carb icing.

Very quick, not too bad on fuel, comfy and reliable, long time in production, so spares are easy to get hold of.

I like the latter E models with stainless exhaust.

My first bike was a ZZR600. Loved it. Regret part exing it for the bird - should have kept it for a winter bike!

Only reason I went up to the bird was because of the huge long distances I was doing I wanted something bigger!!! (Actually, I just wanted something bigger - teh distances were just an excuse!!!)

On the other hand, this COMPLETE novice was able to do a full service (including spark plugs) with the aid of a Haynes Manual and a days use of a friends drive and tools!!!!!! :} :} :} :}
