for the benefit of the saddos that are going.

Who is actually going. Is there a current list?

I can't be arsed to trawl through 3 pages of bollocks for it.

I can see Rolfy and Co, Gypo, Biggles, Lisa, Mel, Sammi, Mick the owner of the multi silvered bird, and a few others,.... is there anyone of any consequence going?
that depends - define 'of consequence' ???

xx

Looks like we may be a 2 vehicle party for this one. Car for the luggage and Bird or Chariot for the rideout (Kidneys permitting, of course). As we found out this weekend, it's bloody cold at night, so cage permits the carrying of warm sleeping kit.

Friday night, with any luck, but not before 8 ish.

FOOD
Breakfast
I think, since there's not that many of us, me and Melz are going to cook brekkie (if I can borrow a cooking thingy!! - got pans, need heat!! Artemis?? :k !!! )

Evening Meal - Friday
Since there is quite a staggered arrival, it will probably be easier to order our own food when we want it. The pub did promise to reserve some seating for us in the pub (I'll confirm tomorrow) so thats probably easiest.

Evening Meal - Saturday
Same as Friday??

The pub also does sunday lunch if anyone wants it!

RIDEOUT
Ok
This is going to be pretty casual. I know the roads reasonably well, but please don't take my lines as the best - I've not ridden that much this year, so please ride your own ride!!

Leaving the pub about 10.30. Follow A371 back towards Wells, then back roads round the 'city' and the scenic route to Burrington Combe then on to Cheddar - half hour stop for cuppa/smoke/ooo's over cliffs!!!! Then up Cheddar Gorge - across the Mendips ending up on the A361 towards Frome, turn off for Lunch at the White Hart Inn, Trudoxhill ( http://www.whiteharttrudoxhill.co.uk/ ). Lunch stop hour and a half to two hours? I've warned them that we will be there about 1.30ish - big ish!! They stop serving food at 2.30pm and are open all day, so we can take as long over lunch as we like!

The after noon 'return' journey - there are a few options, but if its ok, can we see how the day goes? there are two or three 'rides' back to the Rodney Stoke we could choose.

Pete - I don't have your number anymore - could you mail or text me so I can explain the route to lunch I have in mind? I can't get google to play nicely!!

yes I've seen a couple of cyclists falling off going down the Gorge ........ and yes I may have been one of them in my past life h1d1ng2

Look out for gravel/rocks on the road for couple of miles before you hit the top of the gorge, a month ago I think the boy racers had been trying some 'ditch hooking'.

well - I rode both 'hills' tonight! lots of fun, not too much debris! parking is going to be 'fun' at the gorge, got to find out if there is an ice cream van part way up like there used to be!

..................... not on my last couple of visits.
Cheddar Gorge is almost impossible to stop at if you want to be down near the shops / loos, it is much better to stop half way down / up walk .............. and then re-ride the whole bit of road if you want to. If you do stop at the bottom you have to be very careful since the parking gestapo are sh.t hot, I've been approached (ticket book in hand) and told to more on whilst waiting for a car to pull out!

Smix pm on the way! I have a new 'box' here, working for the first time yesterday and I haven't got my email contacts fully sorted yet ...... but I will try.

Well - I found parking in Cheddar - a very wide kerb just off the first roundabout we come to. Right at the bottom of the gorge. The people living in the flat there told me we could use that area :-0)

I'm off to sort some stuff - should be at the Rodney Stoke by about 2pm.

Weather looks dry for tomorrow - its dry now although quite muggy!

See ya's all later :yo: :yo:

An intrepid small meeting. Good to know that some people can still be arsed to organise these things. Without the efforts of some thsi forum would still be ONLY an internet forum and much the worse for it.

PS. Watch out. There are reports coming in that it's difficult to get Kwak GTRs off trailers when in gear!!
Feck... there was me heaving 'n a puffing... Then found out I had left the bloody thing in gear

Ever felt like a prat ??? Oh My God yes !!!!!h1d1ng2

Still, could have been worse... much much worse...LOL

Wholeheartedly agree with Macs comments about the meet planning though.. We need more meet & greets...
