Anybody else noticed how the quality of Zips these days are shite? the puller/toggle/whatever the feck it's called breaks off, or one side won't insert properly into the other side so you can't pull it up, you manage to Zip it up & it starts coming apart so you can't get it back down, there's a lot to be said for Velcro

I have only owned one set of leathers in 12 years of almost daily riding. Nylon acket and waist zips both gave up in first two years, got them changed for heavy duty nylon jobs and no problem since.

Motto - buy gear with metal zips - stuff with big teeth.

Not sure about velcro in place of zip on my Levis though...h1d1ng2

I had a zip puller break on a pair of hardly used (worn 20 times or so) Teknic boots. Spoke to shop who replaced them though I had to bear cost of sending them back.

Maybe as you get older it's not the quality of the zip that is the problem....just what the zip is expected to pull in !:neenaw:

Even that wear out, my SIDI boot velcro became non too grippy, as did the cuffs on my 7 years old jacket. Velcro seems to have a life span.

I've just had a leg zip (YKK zip) replaced on my leather bike trousers, again 7 years old.
