Gets released from Prison, then shoots his ex girlfriend & kills her new partner, shoots a copper & blinds him, then goes on the run for a week issuing threats to the Police & general public, he ends up shooting himself in the head.
Would you go on National television complaining about the police, without even a mention of remorse or regret for what he has done to his victims & families?

I understand that over 3000 have posted 'respect' messages on Facebook.

I might, just might, be with you on this one Derek.

Sadly, I suspect this guy fried his brain by use of steroids for body building and lost all sense of rational thought.

Whole episode is just very sad, with lives being wasted.

Can't imagine I would, but then these are people who are grieving. They aren't necessarily rational. If they were, they either wouldn't make the complaint, or they would at least put in the condolences etc for the families affected by their loved one.

Grief affects everyone differently. And often irrationally.

The whole thing took up too much media attention, which luckily I was unaware of.

...from the Cumbrian shootings.(I'd imagine)

The media will have all been warned by their paymasters to make fookin sure they don't miss out on another one. Probably on a bonus if any "live killings" were captured on fillum.

Fekkin sick society.

Unreal isn't it! Even if you hate police, which clearly many of them do, one comment read along the lines " You are a legend, a shame the copper didn't die"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What did he do to Moat? he was sat in his car and no threat to him!!!! Thank God the policemans 12 yr daugher has written a tribute to her dad on there for all to see.

These are sick bastids. I'd love to see their comments if their loved one had been killed or seriously injured.

And as for Moats brother!! "He was such a lovely brother" that they never saw each other for 7 years!!!!!!!! Enough said me thinks. He is out for compensation from police for sure!!

As much as every copper would have wanted him dead, I am glad they didn't take the shot, the critcis would have been livid, even more than they are now.

Onle less slag for society to take care of. Gutless and a coward, RIP my arse!!!!!!!!!!

How hard was he to shoot 3 unarmed people he could have beaten up with his fists with ease!!!!!!!!

No sympathy for the complete w***er. He was clearly a twat in life long before this incident.

My condolences go out to the families of the boyfriend who was killed, the PC who was shot ( god knows how he survived ) and even Moats ex girlfiriend.

The prsion let him out when they knew he was a risk to his ex girlfiriend and that is subject to IPCC investigation, along with the police lack of dealing wit that threat. What will come out ( I assume )is that DESPITE him being a threat to the public, he was released early!!!!!!!!!!!!! Often the prisons don't give much notice to police when people are being released, let alone when they are a danger!!!!! ( that is NOT a slagging off of prisons, just the system)

It was only ever going to end one of two ways, both ending with that fcuk wit dead. Took 6 hours for him to have the balls to end it though didn't it. He gave it all the big un that he would end in a blaze of glory and would kill loads of coppers. In reality he was full of crap, when all the police were in front of him he didn't do anything. He knew there was no way out for him.:wank::wank::wank::wank::wank::wank:

P.S It took just over an hour to die after he shot himself, I hope he felt the pain of every second of it

P.S.S If anyone in my family flipped and did this I would disown them and I am close to my family ( ill or not )

Its all lies.

He was ginger. As if he had any friends ;)

Seriously, total agreement with the sentiment of this thread. Guy was a violent nutcase and generally we are better off without him. Sad for his kids hough. Deserved a better parent.

Speaking of parents, his mum needs to shoulder some of the blame. Seems the thing that really bugged him his entire life and he was crying about at the end was that she wouldn't tell him who his dad was. Heartless cow should be made to realise what she helped cause.

The IPCC has nothing to do with prisons. The prison had no choice but to release him. He had served half his sentence (18 weeks? for assault) so he was free to go.

Sorry, the quote / my wording, doesn't read that well. What I was saying was that MOAT, on being released from prison and the police informed, did not action the threat received from the prison, is subject of IPCC and what that threat was.

I know the IPCC has no say in the sentencing or time served etc

If a person is in prison for say assault and they are say given 12 months inside and whilst inside they are deemed a threat to the public still and they have been a s**t inside, are you saying that the prison is okay to let them out after 6 months? If so, nobody would EVER do more than half their sentence!!!!!!!! I know we have a s**t sentencing system but that wouldn't happen, well shouldn't happen. They are meant to get out early for good behaviour, show remorse or meet certain criteria etc. They shouldn't be let out so they can go and harm the person they are threatening to hurt!!!

This will be a public enquiry and you can bet your bottom on the fact that it won't just be the police that will be looked out. IPCC may only deal with Police ( Hence the name) but prisons, social services, child protection etc, will be looked at for lessons learnt and who they can blame!!

The prison service work very closely with the Police, some Prisons have a full time Police liaison officer based at the Prison, when any of our prisoners are coming up for release the local Police & the Police force in the area he is going to are informed.

The Prison service have no say as to when a prisoner is released, the judges hand out the sentences, the Parole board decide if a Prisoner is suitable for release before his time & providing he keeps his nose clean whilst inside the prison has to release him on his release date [half his sentence] for example a man can be sentenced to five years for rape & after 2.5 years if he hasn't raped anybody else then he's released.

Derek. I know you are in the prison service and in no way am I saying your service are to blame but who makes up the parole board and deems him suitable for release? when the prison officers are saying the bloke is going to harm someone on release!!!! Surely someone is to blame there.

If a bloke is sent down for 5 yrs for rape and a prison officer can provide evidence that he has said he is going to rape a person on being released ( lets say on serving half his sentence, 2.5 years) and it is believed a genuine threat, then what is the point having a parole board if they will release him anyway!!!!! Surely they are to decide, A) Has he behaived B) Is he likely to be a danger to the public. Certainly if (B) is yes then he should serve full term. That is where this country is fcuked up! well that and many other things:-0)

fosters..... I think what DK's saying is "the system" is wot does it.

It maybe that the parole board, prison etc have some input but .....

The politicians have a problem in that they've not ensured enough prison space.

As an easy low cost solution they came up with a wonderful scheme where almost everyone only ever serves half of their sentance actually in prison.

It means that release from detention in prison is automatic once half the sentence is served, as long as they behave while inside.

In order to prevent release there has to be something other than the normal horror most folks have to some of the crimes.

As they're actually in a prison the chance or temptation to misbehave is probably pretty low.

In common with many things these days a prison occifers genuine belief is unlikely to mean much I would surmise, sad but proly true...

Yep, valid points. The systems are well and truly f****d beyond belief.

The country would be great if the law was enforced the following way.

get rid of the Criminal Protection Service / Can't Prosecute Service ( CPS )
well okay, at least teach them to live in the real world.:wank:

Slags get refused bail for serious offences, regardless and judges / magistrates back the police up when they refuse bail for any offence. That will cut down on people doing a runner before court cases and creating warrants and commiting further offences whilst on bail.

Sentences runs the full term and get EXTENDED if they don't behaive etc.

Make more prisons and learn that it doesn't cost more to run them. It costs more on society to let slags live outside of prision. Society is better off without slags.
Loads are on benefits anyway and / or many on drugs. Insurances and cost of living go up due to crime ( we all end up paying in the long run)

More jobs will be created because vacancies will be made for people that did have a job before they decided to commit a crime and get sent to prison! and for people to run each prison.

Make prison life tougher, like tent city or whatever it is called in Arizona. Make prison a place they don't want to go back to. Too many take it is an occupational hazzrd and an easy life!!! Get rid of TV's, playstations etc

Get rid of that stupid Human Rights legislation crap, especially in prisons!!!! ( did you know it doesn't apply in the Houses of Parliament, along with Health and Safety and PACE and these are the people who agreed to them!!!!!!!!!)

A team of burglars near where I live were nicked and admittted loads of burglaries. They served only a few months before being released!!!!! Guess what they have been doing since they got out??????????? I will give you a clue, as if you needed it........ They are now wanted for................ wait for it........... be patient....................... burglary.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bang::bang::bang:

System and country is f****d beyond belief.

Damm you derek, you have started me off now!!!!!!!!:-0)

I have written many reports on prisoners as will any of the Prison Officers on here but the problem is I am just a Prison Officer who sees the prisoner I am reporting on for several hours a day not a qualified psychologist or a probation Officer or a chaplain who sees them for half an hour a week so my report is discarded as the probation service & psychologists know that all prison officers are bad bastards who want all prisoners to be locked up forever so will always write a bad report so it does not surprise me that the warnings about Raoul Moat went unheeded.
