Driving to London on the M4 the other day I went past a car transporter lorry/drag and couldn't believe what I saw on it. I actually slowed up so's he came alongside me in order to get another look.

It was carrying three double headed Transits!

There was a normal Transit front end, or cab, a short (bare) chassis....... and another front end facing the other way!! The cabs were complete with a rear bulkhead like that on a pickup. They had four wheels but in the sense that it had two sets of front wheels.

First off I thought they were chassis cabs with the bare chassis overlapping at the back, but NO! They were defo double cabbed vehicles!!

WTF :h :h

they are FWD chassis cabs for camper vans, they only have the front wheels on them, the camper van manufacturer puts his own chassis on the back end, the chassis you saw are put together that way to stop the cabs getting damaged in transit.

or so the transit owners club peeps

it is most likely it's the way they stack 2 of them for transportation playing tricks on your eyes.
And that is exactly why I slowed up to take another look....... they were def, 100%, only one vehicle.

Wilf's got a point, but don't the chassis maker normally supply chassis complete with rear axle? If not, then I think you have the answer old boy
