Alan - I have the Tuareg jacket and trousers - cracking piece of kit. Very warm - but I haven't got them really soaking so can't vouch for the waterproofing.

Went too Hein..

Gericke in Maidstone on exactly the same mission. Spoke to shop guy who was a great help:bow: and asked about the Tuareg gear. Apparently it's proper off road kit and although it's GoreTex the pockets are not and therefore get well wet (his words) but they do the proper touring totally dry stuff. Shelltex and GoreTex. I'm going back soon to try some kit on that's in a bit of a sale.

Said it before, so will copypaste:

Hein Gericke Master IV jacket. REALLY waterproof (600 miles under buckets of water, arrived dry inside), and testrode it consciously - result: the protection offered by the hi-protec padding is second to none, it actually saved me from being paralysed in my right arm. The fabric got torn a bit, but not the goretex membrane, still use it and still dry in it, so all in all... Result. Not cheap but at the end of the day, you've got what you pay for. Coming to think of it, at the beginning of the day too.

How, and it's warm too, with its removable hi-tech inside jacket, and its high neck and throat cut wind cover. There, now misters Hein and Gericke, could I please have my commission, been waiting for ages now!

If you really want to be toastie warm during winter you really should invest in a Klansman heated vest/gillet & a pair of Oxford heated bar wraps  .

There is nothing more surreal than riding around feeling warmer than you do during the summer when all the fields around you are covered in the thickest frost :-: .

My full winter kit consists of a cheap Akito Python Jacket (without the liner), leather trousers, cold killers undies & socks, and pair of those vulcan death grip mittens, well wierd at first but seriously warm - plus the above battery operated goodies  !
