What a difference a few years makes

After paying my wife out for not getting me a birthday present she goes and out does herself by buy me this its a 1939 BSA M20 500cc sidevalve 99% complete and running although I be buggered if I can get it to start.

I wonder if she realises what she has started

Wonder what it would look like in blue

I hope you enjoy it Jack.
I used to enjoy messing about with old bikes (case of having to).
Anyway IMHO I reckon you should do the absolute minimum to the bike to keep it running. I hate restored/over restored bikes and their anally retentive owners who trailer bikes to shows and critcise other bikes for not having the correct zinc plated washers and all the other crap they come out with.
Ride it, repair it and enjoy it. Don't do a restoration job.

They tell me your memory goes when you're in your 50th year.
I bet you can remember what you had for your birthday tea in 1964 though, and how much a packet of fish and chips was in 1970.
 :neenaw:

That F2 sidecar guy was Dave Molyneux
