Which is quickest?

Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to which is the fastest/quickest/most powerful?
Early carb bikes,or injected bikes...
Its just that every test ive read on the Blackbird over the last few(or 7)years show power figures and performance way down on the early bikes. The later the bike/test,the slower and less powerful it is.
Yes i know the injected bikes are blessed with more midrange, but which STANDARD bike is the most powerful...???

Officially, Standard they are the same.

All the Injection did was iron out the flat spot.

But then no two bikes are exactly the same,

When I had the 98 bird it felt faster than the 01 one I have now.
That was the rush of power at 4-5k rpm that the smooth delivery I have now does not do.

Although my Blue Flames do make it go a little better now :yo:

Dunno why everyone is being so coy all of a sudden !

In every single case and bike I have rode/tried etc etc the Carb bikes always have a higher top end..

As for power.. now thats where it gets a bit odd considering the above statement..
Out of the dozens and dozens of of birds I have put on various rolling roads they are ALL pretty much the same.. lowest has been 132.8 and the highest 134.6 ( in standard trim )..

I am not casting dispersions on anyone but some of the figures I see posted just make me grin from ear to ear !
For every 10 rolling roads there are maybe 4 that are calibrated properly and regularly.. out of that 4 proly only 3 of the operators actually know what they are doing ... A quick check for anyone going on a rolling road is to ask a pertinent question such as is the read out ?corrected?........ ( the measured bhp to a din standard for atmospheric pressure and temperature )

If he gives you a blank look walk away !

Equally someone who knows the score can get a VERY flattering read out for you simply by only partially pulling the clutch in during overrun. The the drag figure will be increased, this will increase the measured power output

There seems to be an awful lot of rolling road tuners out there ! ( We used to call them speedo tuners... but times have moved on somewhat ! LOL !)

NB. A rolling road or speedo tuner will not tune the engine to get a better result.. he will tweek the test gear to give a more flattering read out //

Bugger... forgot !!

VERY VERY early 1996 birds will see over 180 mph through the lights.. ( best I had outa mine was 184.6 and I have the certificate somewhere to prove it )

Later carb ones seemd to average a genuine 181 to 182

Best I have ever had out of an injected one was 178 ( GPS, timing lights and radar confirmed )

I have never coaxed my 2000 efi one over 177 I am sad to say.. )

Dont care what the dyno says, at the end of the day it's down to the rider. Riders who tell you how fast or powerfull their bike is usually cant ride the thing. Good riders dont have to boast. A faster rider will always be quicker on the ROAD regardless of what bike he is on.

Bikesnoopy, Toots and I have two Red ones mine is injected with 28K and hers is a carbed one with 12K when Ive ridden them back to back I find mine a little looser than hers but the out put is the same, however that may be due to the K&N air filter on mine. When I snap the throttle hers will go up on the back wheel a little easier too.
My one has over the past two months got a lot faster it handles better it accelerates a lot faster and stops quicker too and it cost me nothing for all this improvement I just lost 3 stone.

the carbs are the quickest, standard carbie hit 188mph when they first came out inj ones now are reaching 170-178mph.

my arsehole wont allow me to go that fast so i dont really care.

Aha Senor Punchy, the question was which is quickest, carb or injection, and to that question I answered truthfully. When you get into the nuances of it, to a beginner like bikesnoopy, it's a matter of a little information at a time.

Of course the BLACK ones are quicker, better handling, more economic , and more powerful. The Black carbed ones, followed a little way back by the BLACK injected ones, then a bit further to the Matt Black ones, then the rest of the carbed shite colours, followed by the rest of the shite coloured injected ones, and then last of all Fat Berts brown HOS.

I HOPE THIS IS THE END OF THE MATTER.

Hmmmmmmmmm

I wounder if we could do a poll about what is the fastest colour, that would be original. :k
:} I also frequent the Kwak ZRX Owners Club site(also owning a green ZRX1100R)and we have the same "debates" on there about the quickest/fastest/best. Theres the R owners v the S owners - the 1100 owners v 1200 owners, but always the best arguments come from the colour variations...and,of course, green ones are always the fastest...
