I know lockdown is hard, really hard, but.....Sitting here watching the news and it s a procession of people saying the government need to be clear on lockdown rules.

It seems to me that these people can't think for themselves or simply don't get it.

Yes, it is ok to take exercise, but do you really need to be told that jumping in the car and driving somewhere for exercise is a bit dumb?

I wonder what these people make of it?

100 people in a barn for birthday party.
Cops broke it up but no arrests.
Suggested that they will go after organisers.

Try looking up the rules for shooting Andy ;)

Its outside exercise =allowed
You can go with one member of your household = allowed
You can go with one person outside of your household = allowed
But if its a range like I go to the boss opens up, I turn up - allowed
Someone else turns up = NOT allowed despite there being 10 bays & we could & would easily be 10yds apart at all times

And its the same for other similar sports/exercise eg as clear as mud

2 people were asked by Police why they were out in the High Street (or something similar) without shopping bags or any carriers, but did not have a mask. Their reply?

They wanted to go shopping and did not know that the country was in lockdown. This was at the end of the first week of this current lockdown....

I get what you are saying but surely the point is going shooting is just daft at the moment.

I'm not having a dig at you by the way.

Maybe what I am trying to say is people need to think for themselves and err on the side of ultra caution.

To use the shooting example above, rather than trying to work out if it is 'allowed' in technical terms, the first question should be 'is it essential'.

And, as above, I am not having a go at slim63, he just happened to come up with a scenario that helps me, eventually, formulate my thoughts.

And effing Keir Starmer is speaking as I type, what a hypocritical **** he is, and I can't believe even now he is politicising the pandemic, he just can't help himself. As soon as he says something supporting the government you just know the next word I say going to be 'but'.

No worries I see what you are saying but don't agree

Part of going shooting for me & many others is a spot of fresh air & some exercise as well as the social aspect, as it stands with the confusing rules the owner has had to shut the shoot or possibly face a 10 grand fine even though we can & would abide by all sensible measures to ensure a safe morning out for us all, you will have to trust me on this but anyone not abiding by sensible measures or sensible laws would be given very short shift

So as it stands for me personally that's the one sensible & safe (under the current climate) activity I do regularly that has been effectively banned for the duration for no real reason

What about if you snipe at people not wearing masks or observing social distancing rules.?

1. It gets you out the house for some fresh air.

2. You're helping to limit the spread of the virus.

3. Anyone who is shot will start running and they'll get some exercise too.

A win win all round.

Whatever view anyone has, as Chris Whitty said this morning (again) "everyone needs to act as if they have the virus".

That is something that could easily be misinterpreted and not just by idiots.* Think about it for a second; is he saying that we should all self-isolate for two weeks or do we go about our necessary business whilst wearing a mask and not passing within two metres of anyone else.

*Unless, of course, he explained it in a bit more detail, which left no room for misinterpretation.

He is simply saying that many need to wake up and understand the risk, follow the rules and, most of all, don't do whatever you are thinking of doing if you don't need to.

I don't think Boris will be announcing full lockdown tonight, but I would not be surprised at all if the prospect isn't aired if everyone doesn't start buying in.

As ever, the actions of the minority affect the majority.

As an aside, my friend who works at a local hospital said there were two people with placards outside last week essentially saying the pandemic is fake. Surprised they didn't get lynched by the staff.

And therein lies the problem.

Another thing that isn't helping is the tinpot dictators of the devolved nations doing their own thing. Boris, I think, needs to return all power to Westminster (preferably full-time but at least until this Covid bullshit is over) and go full lockdown across the whole UK. It's in the local news everyday that fuckwits from England are travelling from as far away as London and the Sarf East to visit local beauty spots in the Beacons and Snowdonia and then get upset when local Dibble turn them around.

Fines/punishment need to be tougher, too. What's the point of fining people £100 for travelling during a lockdown? Whilst I don't have £100 to set fire to, it wouldn't change my life either way. A £50,000 fine would give most people pause for thought.
