Hold poignant memories for you, I have a few that stir up memories from the past some good some bad.

Telstar- tornados, heard this at a mates house one Christmas eve went home and our 5 year old English setter lay dieing of heart failure.

Don't give up- Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel, sat listening to the radio in the car in the works car park when this came on, at home our 14 year old tabby cat was fighting for his life, he lost his fight a couple of days later.

You sexy thing- Hot Chocolate, not going to divulge this one,

Time to say goodbye- Andrea Boccelli & Sarah Brightman, no particular reason, just raises the hairs on the back of my neck.

Arrival- ABBA, coming home from a Med deployment on HMS Hermes and being met by my radiant pregnant wife.

The Soldier- Harvey Andrews, it was playing in the club at HMS Drake when I got the call to go home as my Mother was dieing of Renal failure.

Lay all your love on me by Abba. I was dancing with a Norwegian athlete in a nightclub in Huddersfield when her club was over here on an exchange. We were both about 20 I think. Happy days :k

The next time I saw her was on telly in the heptathlon at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona

River Deep Mountain High... And a fair few others from that immidate time ..
Proly the best times of my life ( though of course at the time it did not seem that way ! )

But that statement has just made me think..
I come forward in time to the early 70's.. Fook me.. that was the best years....

Then again to the 80,s.. Bloody hell THEY were the best times..

So maybe I have been lucky and all my life has been the best years.. or maybe this is the case for everyone and we just do not recognise it till its too late.

And I just realised.. the original post was what makes you melancholy..
Sorry Derek... My brain is wired in such as way that I tend to blank out the bad stuff like it never happened.. I can well remember when I have lost a pet or a reletive of course, but tend not to associate such times with anything other than that person or animal ( for instance )
