Worked from home, as usual, and then spent the rest of the day labouring for Bossy Knickers while she levelled and secured the utility room units.

We’re both on leave for a week from tomorrow, so it’s level and secure the rest of the units, secure the worktops, make a cut out for the sink and plumb it and the taps in. Woo-hoo!

Made a few suggestions to Mrs B on how I could spend her pension lump sum that hit the bank account at 00:23am.:zpong:

Not had any response yet. Not one that I can put on here anyway.

On a more serious note, tens of thousands of work related pensions go unclaimed every year, it’s a useful exercise to stop and think for a minute if you have any employment in the distant past that might have attracted a pension. We hadn’t really thought about Mrs B’s until a couple of years ago (it relates to 1980s) and there is no obvious way the pension provider would have tracked her down.

I made a big mistake with my RN pension, I tied it in with my Prison service pension, this would have been good if I’d not got maximum contributions in, the maximum was 45 80ths which I reached at 55 years of age, so my Navy pension was lost.

40 something years ago I worked for Lloyds Bank for maybe 14 months or so. I contacted them a couple of months ago and was rewarded by getting £250 off them in lieu of a ‘pension’ in view of the time I’d been with them. Quite nice too just before Christmas.

That was bold.

I collected my PC from the local computer guys as they have removed the C/D partition to give me plenty of space in my 2tb hard drive. Yesterday they did a grand job sticking a 1tb ssd into the wife’s laptop, it is lovely and fast now.

I then also picked up my ‘repaired’ IPad Air2 from the local approved repairer, and was given a brand new one in its place. I’ve spent the last couple of hours reloading all the data from iCloud so it resembles the one previously.

Then realised I’d loaded all the detail from my iPad Pro which I didn’t want added to this one. So now I’ve cleared it all out and am rerunning the iCloud install manually to get the correct guff back inside.

Tried to be on leave. Juggled work with being Bossy Knickers’ apprentice.

You have my sympathy.

Apparently going to look for curtains was more important than me playing golf yesterday afternoon.

When I was a kid there were always chairs and a few magazines in shops for the benefit of bored husbands during such activities.

Nicked a Christmas tree from someone’s front garden.

Golf. Glorious weather but really really cold when the wind picked up.

Visited my mum. She told me she had been really ill, I got annoyed as she hadn’t told me.

Pondered most of the day, contacted a number of my forum members about the husband of one of them who woke up dead this morning from a massive heart attack. It has really thrown me as we were walking together only very recently, and if asked I would have said he was fitter than me and only 3 years older. It’s made me really have a good think about the future. :(
