finished the contents of the the mystery Fortnum’s hamper…other than the port, champagne, red wine, white wine and dessert wine which will be kept to hopefully celebrate something in a better year in 2022.

Had a closer look at the MZ Mastiff today.
Not touched it since delivery.
Tick over is errrrrm interesting.
Side stand down, it fires up but is not very
responsive on the throttle. Stand the bike up i.e. vertical and the throttle dies. back on the side stand and it keeps going.
Took the choke cable and gubbings out of the MZ carb. Gunked up to fook, blasted with carb cleaner and cleaned it all out. Restart and petrol pissing out the overflow pipe. Suspicions correct that the carbs are indeed gummed up
There is a hidden float filter in the primary carb and is not mentioned in either the MZ manual or the Yamaha xtz manual which is the donor engine for the MZ. Bless em!...
Looks like a carb de-scale and rebuild. This pic is from another MZ rider & apparently it's a common problem.
Carbs had a full rebuild in 2013 according to the service manual.
I think mine has been parked up for a while and suffered stale fuel.
A good quality inline filter is deffo getting fixed between the tank and carbs

Been working today.....

Now home, just tucked away a tasty cottage pie and will shortly follow it with the apple pie currently in the oven.
Two pints so far, more to follow, night shift tomorrow so can snooze in the morning!

Work colleague as we were leaving announced he's off to the the warehouse in Manchester to see the new year in, expects to be there until around 05:00.
Made sure he'd sorted out his negative covid tests for him & girlfriend.

Just been watching some old episodes of MASH - always better while drinking :)

As I am home alone I cooked what I wanted, stuff that is normally off the menu - couple of lumps of black pudding, two runny poached eggs and a slice of toast.

There is a filter in the tap and that filter in the carb just the same as most other bikes, if you think you need an extra inline filter you are wrong what you actually need to do is clean the damn tank out and put some decent fresh fuel in it

Inline filters tend to cause more problems than they solve eg not able to supply enough fuel at high revs as the can empty quicker than they fill and often the disparity in rates will get you a nice big air bubble that causes a miss

Yarp, yarp and yarp.
It's in the post, can I have back before end
of Jan....Ta very much.
Joking aside..I have a shopping list for carb gaskets kit and air seal valve valve kit. I don't want any surprises when opening the carb.

Went there yesterday actually.
80 mile round trip.
That's a street view, was dull and damp and I forgot to take a pic.

Didn’t play golf as my regular playing partner had to have his windscreen repaired. Which is just as well as we have had unforecast (new word!) biblical rain showers all morning.

So instead I got absolutely drenched loading the car with twenty sacks of horse manure at the garden centre.

Had to drag idiot, shitwit, bollocks-for-brains, twatbag, dog into the shower because she decided it would be a great idea to roll in fox shit. Again. Just for a f'ing change, like!
It always filled me full of joy at my last place when I returned a neighbours dog home covered in crap after walking it.

I have always said dogs are brilliant….providing they are owned by someone else.

Cats are better though.
