Bert for feck sake when does it ever not rain in this overcast deluge sodden, waterlogged, overcast pathetic excuse for a tropical rain forest (without the tropical or forest bit) :dunno:

Wot Lumpy and Clive said ....................

also make sure the local air dispenser at your gas station of choice hasn't pumped your tyres up to 75 psi and your suspension isn't set up at full bloater settings and indeed you still have a something resembling a bit of tread depth left.

Oh yeah feck of the D205s before they kill you.

To be perfectly honest, (As is my norm) if you need to read a post on a forum, to know how to ride in the wet, you should not be riding motorbikes period.c7u8

Having said that and you my be considering venturing out for the first time see the good advice above.

Alternatively come for a ride out with me here in wales when it's pissing down, which is a lot of the time and I will give you all the advice that you need.
But otherwise the advice above is very good especially the smoothness and not tensing up stuff etc.

Make sure you can see by fitting a Fog City or Pinlock insert to your visor to stop it steaming up and NEVER open your visor when it's wet as rain gets on the inside! Make sure the visor fitting is correct so there is no gap at the top when it's closed. Apart from that relax, take it easy and enjoy. :lick:

Alternatively ...

you could buy a V-Strom and don't care whether you crash the fooker or not, (despite it being less than a year old), then ride it as you would in the dry knowing full well that it is never, in a month of Sundays, gonna have you off due to an excess of power.....

..... which really pissed off the dutch blackbird rider on Saturday on the very wet road from Gluckstadt to Lubeck :} :} , who try as he might, couldn't live me and my shite-mobile, every fooking bend, he was sliding all over the place, feet out a couple of times, most entertaining from my view, but I got bored (and was on a promise  ) so I left him too it.

Sorry Martin, ya might be quick in a straight line, but most roads I know have got a corner lurking somewhere!!!

Still didn't manage to write the fooker off though ....... :xm

knock knock
who's there

feck, it's still doing it :xm

All of the above, but....

The worst time to ride in the wet is when is just started raining.

The road surface will have derbies, rubber, oil etc lying on the surface after a dry period. It takes a while for this crap to be washed away leaving a reasonably grippy surface, so take it very easy for the first 30 mins of any downpour, after that its fairly safe to ride pretty much the same as you do in the dry, avoiding the very very slippy bits such as manholes, overbanding, white line, leaves etc.

Lastly dont ride on 'A' point of the road (the middle of where car tyres have not been) as this is where all the crap lies, ride in the postion where the offside tyres of cars run as this will be where the best grip is (applies to the dry also), it also give you advanced views for better planning of whats happening ahead and a greater margin of safety if some twat does something stupid in front of you.

Well thats what we in the old bill do, ignore our advice at your peril :violin:
