Well, the site for this years meeting is booked

After a couple of false starts, we have finally booked the venue for the 2008 Blackbird Bash...

Dates are 23rd May - 26th May 2008

Unfortunately, both the previous sites came up short when it came to facilities in one way or another (prices mainly, as I have to keep it as economical a meet as possible for you skinflints out there)

The final venue which has now been booked & confirmes will be

Alvely village hall & social club
Alvely
nr Bridgnorth
Shropshire

Its actually only about 8 miles north of where Jan & I live (so is handy for us to co ordinate with the owners)

2008Bashsite.jpg

Within the grounds are Campsite/social club/toilets/bar/etc/etc... Within 200yards walk are 2 other public houses, a B&B, a post office, and a Chinese take away. Jan & I are currently sourcing a burger/buttie van for the site as well.

We have access to a function room which we plan to have a disco on friday, and a band on Saturday night(maybe disco as well if we can afford it) A charity auction (CLIC) will be held on Sunday evening with a few bits of fun & games.

We also have access to a kitchen for cooking food for brekkie & other meals

24 hour access to toilets for those camping. Portable showers Have now been sorted & booked...

We have the rather brilliant roads of Shropshire & Wales to play on, and there is a bikers cafe only 3 miles away at Quatt (Imagine their eyes when 60 or 80 blackbirds turn up for a cuppa or brekkie on Sunday morning...LOL

Mini Moto's are being sourced for use on the car park on Sunday morning where we will have a bit of a light hearted (some feckin hope!!) competition with a trophy for the winner.

Other "bike games are also planned for Sunday morning, with an "adult" bouncy castle also being sources for your general amusement...And maybe a Bungee run inflateable if we can afford it...

The long and short of it is that it depends on how many folks decide to come, as to whether it is a goer or not...
As for the cost... The site is FREE!!!!!! So all we are forking out for is the entertainment.......

I would look at it costing apporximately ?25 per head, and we will need at least 100 people to make it work... Preferably 120 - 150 then we can have a great long weekend.... Discos aren't cheap, neither are bands, and you only get what you pay for...

BUT... at the end of the day... You are the ones that will make this happen...so.....

Now it's up to you lot out there......To make it a success...WE NEED YOU...

Jan & I will notify you of the finalised price by next weekend, but I wouldn't have thought it will be much difference to what we have said above...

We will leave it with you for the time being....

All the best to you all,

Rolfy & Jan

Can I just add that this is a NON-PROFIT making event, so any monies left over will be donated to the CLIC charity....

ps... Bits being added even as you sleep....I think a Sunday group ride out, including a guided tour of RAF Cosford museum may be arranged FOC, which may interest a few of you.

08 Bash

Count me in again this year !

Not sure yet on where I will be staying or if I will be riding but I will be there in oerson anyway.
It is a good excuse to leave the States for a week !!

Will begin collecting more Florida Sunshine to bring along. I will start early this year as I obviously failed in getting enough over the pond the last two years.

We are in a major drought here in South Florida and are having unusually warm temps this Winter.........todays high temp is 82 degrees F. and the low is 74 degrees F. Blue skies all this week ! Riding the Bird every day.

Spoke to the wife (Pam) and we are thinking of riding in for the day and staying one night, only 1 hour from us,

What?s the protocol do I need to join anything or sign up , or is it ok just to turn up.

Not a problem chipping in if required but would like to know first as don?t want to make a Muppet of ones self by turning up uninvited.
