Yours truly has finally been accepted into the ranks of "the great unwashed" My company has finally dispensed with my services, after 13 months and a shed load of reviews, they have decided to let me go, on medical grounds, "IE I can't drive an HGV, or stay awake long enough to finish a shift" I can't fault the company they did try to accommodate me and my problems, but in the end my health let me down, So my next goal in life is to get back on a motorbike, and ride the fekker around Europe, and to all those tossers that are claiming the "rock n roll" DONT include ME in those ranks, I WANT to work, the bloody body keeps telling me NO, so I fully expect the usual grief from the usual crowd, and long may that continue.:angel2:

You will get no grief from me, I can totally relate and sympathise.

I have been out of work since November and because of my health I am also limited to what I can do. unfortunately I can't even look forward to getting back on a bike.

On the plus side, I am going to Manchester on Tuesday to see a chap about a job, so fingers crossed.

Good luck to you Ian (y)

Come on you Hatters
No grief from me either. I’ve taken pretty drastic action just last week to try and ensure I can physically keep working into my 60’s, and I’ve only just turned 54. But my knees are shot after 30+ yrs as a plumber and carrying 23st around aint helping.
To hell with what anyone thinks mate, just do anything you can to enjoy life from now on.

Get back to work, yer lazy twat! :D

Thing is Ian, once you get back on a bike you’ll have improved your condition by definition. WTF am I on about? Well, you can’t ride now so in order to ride, you’re gonna have to get sorted. Focus on one thing at a time; divert all your attention to getting back on a bike. Set yourself realistic, achievable targets (I don’t know which parts of you work and which don’t, so I’m going to have to use a bit of artistic licence here). For example, let’s say your right hand doesn’t work so well - go sit on a bike on the centre stand and put your hands on the bars and then pull the front brake and squeeze for five seconds and repeat so you do it a total of three times. Aim to hit ten pull and squeezes within a month. Once you’ve done that, set yourself your next target and keep moving forward, something like ten gear changes. If you don’t make one goal, add an extra two weeks and go again. Do not give up. Borrow a small bicycle and ride round your local park on grass; a kids bike would be a good idea cos you won’t have so far to fall. Go a step further and get a girl’s bike so you can step through, which will be easier for you than slinging a leg over. Any of your mates have a scooter or moped you can borrow?

The most important things are not giving up and making progress; once you hit a target, you’ll have the motivation to hit the next. My old granny taught me that you can’t hit what you don’t aim at.

Now get busy and good luck.

Fookin ell. the most I've ever seen you write, I'll be doing most of your suggestions, and determination to succeed is top of the list, as far as cycling's concerned you can fuck right off, I'm NOT going to join those fuckwits even if it kills me!!:p

I think your aim should be to get yourself fit enough to push the bike onto your trailer and drive it around Europe.

You'll know your back to your peak riding ability when you can do that.

You can kiss goodbye to getting that trailer out ....

Do you not remember the last time he had that trailer out it did not go so well, he would be better off riding the bike less damage that way....

All the best robbo

I hope you find something to keep you busy chap whether it's a real job or just another way to keep busy such as charity work. It's all about how you feel within yourself more than anything else
