OK Jeff - I live out on the West Pennine Moors and it's glorious sunshine here! :sun_smiley:

It is cold, though, but it will warm up later.

Seeya next time around. (y)

Well... black ice... say no more!

Beaten by the weather on a sunny day - madness!

As Arnie said, so famously: "I'll be back!" :cool1:

Just got back after an hour’s outing – I wouldn’t call it a “ride”! It’s not particularly cold (yet), and it’s still quite sunny – but suddenly I’m in fog – then back in the sun. From a hilltop I see that the whole area is surrounded by dark grey clouds above and random patches of cold, cold fog on the ground. The roads are wet in some places and muddy in others; potholes are filled with water.

I’d gone out to re-fuel the bike (which task would been completed en route to the rendezvous, this morning), but my decision to extend my time on the road had rebounded on me: I was just wasting fuel and getting the bike dirty at the same time. None of that would have mattered if I’d been enjoying myself, but I wasn’t, and it’s a rare thing for me to find myself in that state of mind while I was on my bike. It’s been a disappointing day (sob!), but thanks to everyone for your attention. Brighter, warmer days aren’t too far away and I hope we can get together then.

RideSafe, and Cheers, all! (y)

Was planning to get out for a ride across exmoor today, got the bike out, warmed it up put all me gear on.
Got a couple of miles up the road turned round and came home, black ice everywhere especially in the bits where the sun hadn’t got to, had a low speed slide coming up to a junction, thought better of it.
Got the pushbike out had a lovely sedate ride along a cycle track that follows an old railway line following the Taw Torridge estuary, still ice everywhere even at water level, god knows how bad it would have been up high on the moor.
It was a good call, beautiful day loads of wildlife on the estuary some cake and coffee in the cafe on the way out and a couple of pints when I got back.
Cracking day(y).

We had a massive hail storm here on Saturday night, must have been two inches thick on the ground.

It's that time of year.

Strange days, buddy.

Sunshine-no-snow in January...

Will the daffodils be pushing through the cold again next April...?

As you say, strange to say the least, it was such a lovely day though, clear blue sky, and not a breath of wind.
Hope it doesn’t snow in the next couple of weeks, am going to the Carol Nash classic show in Feb at the Bath & West showground and last year it was called off at the last moment & delayed for two weeks because of deep snow ❄️.
Roll on warm sunny days and sticky tarmac.

Spring begins around 20th of March... Counting down the days!
Take up golf...I was out at 8.22 am yesterday morning playing in bike unfriendly heavy frost to temporary greens. We had the course to ourselves other than dog walkers, the weather was stunning and the extraordinary views we are fortunate to have were staggering in the clear air - we could clearly see Sandbanks, The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth and The Isle of Wight, all around sixty miles away.

Have you seen the snow that Canada got this week:eek: even they struggled to keep going and they're always geared up for it.
Hope we don't even get 1% of that sh@t.

Fingers crossed.

Looks like it will be tipping down here, near France, with 53mph winds forecast for Sunday.

Well… we’re all in for it, I suppose.

I’ve just checked the local weather forecast and our little haven haven on the moors is due for a
couple of inches of snow over the weekend, too! Never mind. “Make hay while the sun shines”, eh?

This morning’s brought the beginnings of a beautiful day, so the ‘Bird’s outside, warming up,
and soon we’ll be making the best of what we’ve got before the storm comes. :motorino:
