Very disturbing if true.

The so-called "pod" under the fuselage looks to me like the fuel tank that is used for extra fuel on long-haul flights. I think 747s also have them.

I love a good conspiracy theory but this particular slant on 9/11 looks a bit feeble to me.

Do Airliners carry external fuel tanks? I didn't think they did.

Oh dear... here we go again.......

Commercial airlines do not carry external fuel pods.

It's a mucked about photo..... you put a pod there and you'll find the undercarriage can't be extended....... so exactly how did it take off????

POD's carried on commercial airlines are used where they are ferrying an extra engine required elsewhere. It's then fitted to a soecial pylon on the wing and casings fitted around the engine ensure it's streamlined to minimise drag.

747's can carry five engines when doing this..

It's not so much an "extra fuel tank" as a fuel tank built into the fuselage which produces a bit of a bulge between the wings. The larger planes us it for fuel on the long-haul flights, when there is not enough space in the wings.

The Swissair flight that blew up just after leaving New York a few years ago had this tank empty and a spark from some faulty wiring that ran through the tank (it's been re-designed now) ignited the fumes causing the plane to split in half at 16000 feet.
