Var is ruining football

Remove offside from the game. That would make it far more enjoyable. Just use VAR to spot the cheats who dive and feign injury.

Goal given & cleared by var, then disallowed by var for offside.
It may seem harsh and the margin is fine but A part of the body he could score with is offside.

Simple.

Offside is black and white, this is what everyone was shouting for before VAR.

Move on.

Wait until you see the 'penalty' that wasn't given for Maguire being booted by two different players after the ball had gone today. Unbelievable.

Removing offside would be a disaster in my opinion. It's a game of tactics and that would be destroyed by hoofing the ball from one penalty area to the other.

As,for, the other stuff, VAR is in early stages and no doubt will develop over the years.

Anything that helps referees get to the right decision - and VAR does in the huge majority of cases - gets my vote.

Since when can you score with your arm? No way in a million years can that be offside.

Since the handball rule was amended and clarified this year. Handball is now defined as anything below an imaginary t shirt sleeve.

The real problem with var and offside is that it is absolutely a black and white offence, which is exactly what everyone was calling for before its introduction. Now really close calls such as this one are being argued about and there are calls for leeway. Which would make it worse. If the Bamford goal had been given I have no doubt there would have been a media frenzy 'but it was offside', such is the world we live in. Bamford didn't do himself any favours subsequently by saying he doesn't know the Law's that govern his profession, but he is far from alone in footballers not knowing them.

I am backtracking on the Maguire penalty having seen it again as I can see the first offence was his push on the goalkeeper. However, the fact that VAR will not intervene on incidents after an offence seems bizarre, as he was subsequently booted by two Everton players - that were both worthy of at least a caution - albeit not to the degree of Pickford's assault on van Dijk which has put him out for the best part of a year.

The only things that ruin football are football players.
