Anyone done Transylvania on the bike? Looking to go in June next year, any advice welcome..

Touring Transylvania / Alternative
Nothing specific other than avoid Bucharest - the city has little to recommend it and the roads are in poor condition.
If you are open to suggestions, I would suggest Istanbul instead of Romania, distance is similar(ish), you won't be in Europe and it is an amazing city.
You could also catch a ferry from Greece to Italy and take an alternative route home.
Keep me posted as I am thinking of Istanbul next year in June/July.

If you are that way, I would recommend the Transfagarasan Highway, Route 7C. It would be such a shame to miss out on riding the best road in the world. Hairpins to die for, and quite literally may do. The scenery is awesome, and the time of year may be just about the best time to do it. The only shame is that it only lasts for about 20kms, but I guess you can always turn around and go back over it!!8rfl@
