hi all,

what additional tools if any, do you take
when you tour abroad.

I normally don't bother with much else than:

standard toolkit,
air pump,
puncture repair kit,
gaffa tape,
electrical tape,
cable ties

am I missing anything that you have found handy to have at one time or another.

thanks

The obvious one missing is allen keys in case you need to remove any body work. I normally also take a couple of small racket ring spanners for the common bolts oh and a torch.

I replaced the standard toolkits allen keys with ball ended type and spanners with some higher quality ones.

also replaced the toolkits pliers with a good multitool.

I have a torch. plastic metal is a good one :)

I'm in my hotel room now on grimsel pass just near innertkirchen @tu*

thanks for the offer Grant, I do have most of what you mentioned apart from spare reg/rec, throttle cables, I was gonna bring my spare levers but didn't.

Done all the major passes I wanted to.

saturday,
north up petite st Bernard in good weather with full luggage and swmbo

sunday,
north up grand saint Bernard, furka to gletsch, grimsel to hotel near innertkirchen all in torrential rain with full luggage and swmbo

monday
a nice rest day looking around interlaken, grindelwald and thun in sunshine for a change

today (Tuesday)
a clockwise circuit with no luggage, just my other half on the back

susten in good weather
gotthard & tremola in good weather
nufenen in good weather

then the weather changed drastically as we got onto the furka towards gletsch, torrential rain, thick fog and gale force winds

furka to andermatt section closed off today

so up the grimsel back to the hotel

the journey back home starts tomorrow, with a stop over in heidelberg, another in cologne then the ferry from rotterdam to hull on friday night.

my new michelin pilot road 3 have been perfect @tu*
