Touring New Zealand's south island

It's been a wet and windy winter for a few days here in NZ, so I've been flicking through some old photos in better weather to cheer me up. Thought you might be interested in our "Birds Galore" tour of the south island I did with 3 mates when I still owned the 'bird.

It was on that trip after all of ten minutes on south island soil that we met up with fellow B.I.R.D member Russ Fae Fyvie and his wife Janice touring on a BMW adventure bike.

Hope that you enjoy the scenery and the sight of 4 fast blue birds, not those gay pink ones 8rfl@

Hi Geoff,

What a weird coincidence !

We were sat down last night watching the video of that holiday and that meet up in Picton !

We had also been watching a Program on Sky (Travel Channel) where Henry Cole does The Worlds Greatest Motorcycle Rides

http://www.travelchannel.co.uk/series-info.asp?series=World%27s+Greatest+Motorcycle+Rides&ID=1488

and he was creaming his kecks over the North and South Island.

Absolutely magical holiday, both in 2007 and 2009 when we stayed with you.

Hope you are both well over there, although I thought you were coming to our housewarming a couple of weeks ago

Some memories !!

'ello Russ! Karma indeed!

Yeah, Haven't seen the Henry Cole thing but saw him on our news when he was over here and he was pretty enthusiastic.

Hope the house warming went well! Might be passing through the UK in 2012 or 2013. Our 40th anniversary next year and might be doing a workd trip by way of celebration.

bmwdumptruck: You know what it's like down here. Blue Blackbirds, sheep with lipstick.... 8rfl@. Hope Bedfordshire is treating you well; my old stomping ground - used to be on the staff at Cranfield.

Hi Geoff.

Yep, taken on the run back from last years Burt Monroe - really must get around to putting the photos from that little jaunt up.

Sand Flies!!!!. Little Bastids. Made the mistake of stopping by the Haast to take some photos, won't do that again.

Hi Ross,
Great to hear from you - 8 years...bloody hell! We're now living in Coromandel so any time you're up that way.... We're currently in Thailand, but back in NZ at the weekend.

I now have a Street Triple but still have fond memories of the 'bird.

Do you still have the bakery?

Cheers,

Geoff
