His mate has the bike and was the source of details. SIL was a bit shocked at the treatment by the dealer.
My objective was a FYI for anybody interested in potential problems with new bikes as this is not the first time BMW has had electronic problems, discussed in the BMW club magazine at the time. And at that time, as I recall, BMW weren't rushing to help owners with problem.
I'm not into slagging off bikes to annoy other owners.
SIL has rebuilt many bikes and engines and raced side car in IOM. Raced karts to championship win. He knows a little about it.
Show me one manufacturer of bikes or cars that hasn't had a problem somewhere along the line. If it was indeed a genuine "...
FYI for anybody interested in potential problems with new bikes...", this wasn't the time or the place. Your 'objective' was poor form in a thread on my new bike.
I had a small problem with my previous BM and the dealership couldn't help me quick enough. They even collected my three bikes when we moved from Kent back to Wales and transported them to the new house so that I didn't have to rely on a removal firm. There's a reason I use a dealership that's 150 miles from my front door. Whilst your SIL's mate's experiences are regrettable, I have nothing but praise for the two BM dealers we use (one for cars and the other for bikes). I can only go on my own experience and, so far, it's been nothing short of first class.
