having watched the increasingly childish antics of three grown men for the first three episodes of the latest series it was a real shock to watch last night's episode and actually enjoy it!**

Affordable cars being put through the ringer in an entertaining way. Shame they all ended up getting ruined, especially the S Class - what a car for £4K!

** obviously I used the fast forward button to avoid 'celebrity that I have never heard of blatantly plugging a new film/book/album in a reasonably fast car' to enhance the viewing experience.

The increasingly childish approach seems to be creeping in to Car SOS as well, hardly any interesting technical stuff now, more about Tim whatever his name is being silly. Shame.

Wheeler Dealers has also gone off the rails, they start with a heap and end up with a nice car with very little information on how they got there, along with some ludicrous claims about how much parts/services cost them. What makes it worse is that you can see stuff that needs doing when they buy the car and the end product has this stuff done without mention.

Thank heavens for the US car programmes (y)

Not watched the new series of TG & don't feel inclined to do so. Don't mind Car sausage as a bit of entertainment & it's nice to wathc the more deserving of society surprised at the end (IMO not all of the recipients are deserving though, thinking back to a guy with a VW beetle who just appeared to be depressed because he was unemployed).

Only watched WD a couple of times since China left and wasn't that keen when they switched their operation to the US anyway.

Fair point! Albeit they seem to be obsessed with US versions of European cars now.

I had programmes like Iron Resurrection, Kindig Customs, Speed is the New Black and (Canadian) Fantomworks in mind!

The Grand Tour is much, much better. Far superior budget is plainly obvious and there's the added bonus of a few rude words :D. It really is hilarious.

Ang on, shouldn't that read;

"having watched the increasingly childish antics of three grown men for the first 26 series."

It was ace when Angela Rippon used to present it.

The first episode of this series promised much at the start - M5 v Mercedes AMG of some sort comparison. What did we get? Silly laps round the airfield with traction control turned off and sliding sideways on every corner.

Of zero interest to anyone who lives in the real world. Unless they are five or below.

I tried to watch the new top gear once but after 5 minutes of the mumbling fool, the pretend racing driver & the hanger on I turned it off before I threw something at the telly :( utter shite imo

When Andy Wilman and the Three Stooges went to Amazon the Beeb crudely tried to continue cashing in the cash cow they had created - and failed to reproduce the magic of their bonding. From Chris Evan shouting to the overly-scripted comments of the yank who knows very little about cars...
I've tried to watch the old TG show with new presenters but it just doesn't work for me; sorry, especially if you like it.
The Amazon Grand Tour has more flow to it - even so, there are a few times I wish they'd be a little less... Childish?...
There's a huge chance I'm now just too fricken' old to appreciate some of the kindergarten humour? More than likely... But long may they reign.

And Partridge makes me chuck, it's hard to imagine a more unfunny person given air time on the box.
